Well what a fabulous handsome boy you've got there!  So glad he found you.

I'm a bit concerned for his lack of appetite........and he vomited water? See there's something up with that.

If he were in my care, I would stop all other foods, and feed him ONLY turkey baby food watered down a bit and warmed, and turkey meat, maybe boiled and cut up very small and added to his baby food.

This is a sure fire way to settle his insides down, turkey is very easy on them, easily digested and perfect for settling his upset system down right away. Give small amts at a time, but as much as he will eat.

I think you are right for deciding to get him back to the vet. I suspect there is something that is unseen here.

That is unless he's super stressed but he doesn't sound like he is. Or he ate some awful crap he found and still has an upset tummy from it.

I know this one sounds strange but with his fur and the condition he was in, he can also have a hairball built up in his lower throat that he hasn't expelled yet.

I have my Simone who is a long haired persian, and she graces me with occasional gifts, usually during the night so I'm sure to step on it when getting up to use the bathroom :)

But she will have to build it up first, and it makes her appetite alot smaller, and it might take a few days before it finally comes up, looking like a white tube or a tampon. haha! sorry. But it does. (she's white)

If you've ever owned a long haired cat before you will know what I mean :)

I still don't really think that's it either.

Another vet visit is the best idea.

He's so lucky you stopped for him! I wonder if he is lost? He does look like a purebred cat and with being so young and neutered too, I wonder if maybe someone managed to lose him somewhere and he wandered all the way to your neck of the woods?

He has the coloring of a Chinchilla, I think, and the right coat for it. I'm not an expert though, but I thought their build should be more like a Persian cat, even if the face is not peke-faced?

I have a couple of photos I can use here (purchased them a while ago) -

Wow Norachan, you are definitely my hero (and that of all your beautiful cats of course!). You have such a big heart and these cats are all so lucky that you ran into them. It breaks my heart to see how easily people "lose" or dump their cats, without any regard for their life or well being. But you, you restore a little bit of my faith in mankind.

He is absolutely gorgeous. I had never seen a Chinchilla, but then, I'm not an expert on breeds. He's definitely a looker.

I hope everything will be ok with him.

Will you keep him as well? How many cats do you have right now? I mean, I understand where you're coming from. Here in Finland we have no strays or ferals. Or VERY FEW if there are any. Which is understandable of course, no cats would survive this winter and if they do they are caught, chipped and given new homes. So I don't come in contact with any, but I do know that I wouldn't be able to just walk away if I saw one, like you do. I'm afraid if I were you I would be ending up with 600 cats, because there is not a moment where you would suddenly stop caring for them..

You are amazing and he is such a beautiful boy. Keep us updated on his health please. Did you see the vet again?

No turkey in japan for people much less cats. I used to live there and paid 1200yen for a drumstick and some trimmings for Thanksgivng Holiday.

Knowing how people treat cats in Japan I suspect he was dumped. It is very difficult to get cat-friendly housing or simply he was let go when no longer kittenish looking.

Ah I see!

Chicken is the next best thing then. You'd think they would be the same right? Me too, but vet says no, turkey is easier to digest than chicken. Go figure!

But I would keep it to just chicken baby food and chicken, cooked for at least several days, then slowly begin introducing other foods and watch for a reaction.

You never can tell what his story is, and as we know, every life has a story. Him being neutered speaks for itself in that someone once cared for him. It's just unfortunate that more are not chipped.

You could always post him as found, and to call you with a description to identify. There may be someone out there missing him terribly. But maybe not too.

Norchan- God bless you & your hubby for rescuing this beautiful boy. I have found sprinkling some Fortiflora stimulates a cats appetite. It also helps for switching food and helps with diarrhea too. I have used it when needed for awhile now. I just adopted a to skinny cat yesterday. He is also very stressed as his original people gave him up last week. I brought him home and he wasn't eating until I sprinkled on the Fortiflora. I also coated a Composure chew in it and he ate it up, the composure helps with stress but none of my cats would eat it until I tried coating it in the Fortiflora.I hope your new boy feels better soon.

Thanks for all of you comments and advice. I tried to get some turkey baby food or turkey meat but, as @Lyrajean  said, there's none to be found. I did find a gourmet cat food that was turkey based so bought him a few cans of that. I heated one up for him and he licked all the gravy off and ate about a third of the meat.

He had the same thing for breakfast this morning and ate even more. So, as he seems to be perking up a bit I've decided to wait until tomorrow morning to take him to the vets, as I'll have the car and it will save me about $100 in taxi fare.

He's sitting in my lap purring now.

I'm sure he must have been someone's beloved pet. He loves being held and groomed, someone must have lavished attention on him.

I've put posters up in the vets office, local animal control and the villages halls at the two villages I found him between. I've also got in touch with a shelter in Tokyo. It's a long way from here, but some people from Tokyo have holiday homes in this area, maybe he got out while his family were on holiday? Hopefully we'll be able to find his people. He'll have a home with us for as long as he needs one.

I'll keep you posted on how things go at the vets.

Hi, Norachan We haven't heard back from you and I am curious to know how Forest is doing and if he got a good bill of health at the vet.

Hahaha! Isn't it amazing how happy we can be seeing poop? :D

I had the exact same reaction when Anyon's diarrhea was gone and he had his first perfect poop again. :D

It's ridiculous!

I knew you guys would understand why I was so happy about the poop.

It went well at the vets. I actually felt a bit embarrassed going in there and saying, "Well, he's eating and pooping OK now, but you should have seen him on Saturday!"

Luckily we have a very nice vet who understands my Obsessive Cat Disorder.

Forest's mouth, teeth and throat looked fine, no sign of a blockage, no sign of any parasites but I've got another dose of worming medicine to give him in a weeks time just in case there are any eggs left in his system. He's actually put on a little bit of weight, maybe thanks to the huge breakfast he had before we went to the vets.

He's eaten three cans of gourmet chicken and turkey today. He'll have a few mouthfuls, have a nap, then come back for a few mouthfuls more. I'm really happy with how well he is doing now.
