Hi there,
I'm new here and I'm wondering if anyone can help. I've read all the threads with a similar issue but I'm still at my wits end!
I have a 1 year old tabby cat who keeps peeling in places he shouldn't and I just can't figure out why!
We've only had him for 2 months and he was very skittish and timid when we got him. He's come out of his shell so much now though and seems such a happy cat.
It started when he peed in his own bed. So I cleaned it with enzyme cleaner and washed it, peed in it again. I must've repeated this process about 7 times now. It's like the bed to him is an additional litter tray!
Speaking of, he has 2. One upstairs and one downstairs and they're plenty big enough. He also uses them both for number 1 and 2.
He's now got into the teterrible habbit of peeing on my boyfriend's clothes! I personally think it's my boyfriend's fault for being such a scruff but there's probably more to it than that! We have to make sure the bedroom door is always closed otherwise he will most likely go and make his mark!
He's neutered and as far as I'm aware he is a happy, healthy cat. He eats ans drinks fine, loves belly rubs and playtime. But why is he peeing in these places?
HELP!

Hiya,

We had the same problem so I asked the breeder for help and she suggested leaving my cat in a closed room ie: spare room or similar for a couple of weeks with his litter tray,

we did that and spent time with him through the days so he had plenty of company plus feeding him when required, we left our boy for approx. 2wks and let him out and if he

failed again we left him there even longer and now he is clean, it took awhile but we go there in the end, hope this info helped,

Good luck

Regards Sue xxx

Hi Sue,

Thanks for your response. When we first got him we kept him in his own room for 1 week to get him used to his surroundings. Then we let him out into the rest of the house. But like I say that was 2 months ago now. If I ever put him back in the room and shut the door (Eg when we have quite a few people over) he hates it and can't wait to get out! I've more of less given up on the bed now, just but it into storage. My boyfriend's just going to have to learn to put his clothes away, which is fine by me

I just don't understand why he does it! Cats are strange little creatures!

They sure are a law unto themselves bless them, I must admit our boy made a real mess of the cushion flooring but we did persevere and it's now reaped benefits

he goes into the room on him own accord now when told to as my cats are house cats and because we have dogs my cats are put in there room to keep them safe,

Another thing the breeder told us was to wash all items that are dirtied in bio washing powder, I must admit that worked too, I always have some available just in-case .

Good luck and hope your fella started to lean quickly or it's him that will suffer lol

Take care Sue xxx
