Hi I am new here and just looking for advice really. Currently Shelly is seeing a vet. Let me explain the story....so Shelly is round ten years old and she has a wonky walk. We looked into this and found no obvious reason why but she was OK, managed to walk fine, jump and run. Then two months back this limo got really bad where she was literally collapsing on her left leg, without specialist treatment we couldn't get to the bottom of it. And sadly the specialist we were due to see would not accept direct claims. So we went back to our vets and we tried Shelly on steroids and it worked. No more collapsing. Then a month after starting the steroids her appetite dropped. We went vets and they couldnt understand why. Bloods were OK, mouth looked great and our vet did an ultrasoundand aall as fine. So she was giving a appetite booster and vitamin shot. Few days later all was fine. Then come Thursday night I noticed Shelly seemed off, sure enough next morning she didnt eat much and began running from me and hiding. And it seemed when I approached her she looked scared and would kinda sit back as I tried to stroke her. So vet gave us a pain relief we have to syringe into her mouth. She is eating OK now not as much though...pooped lastnight and weed OK. She still seems to be locking herself away and doesnt stir at all unless we go to see her or its feeding time. She is a very vocal cat and is alkways walking around when we have food, she has not be doing this lately. And now when she purrs, is seems very croaky.

So that is where we are at. We will be calling our vet tomorrow to see what is next and may I add, she had a dental in May so her teeth and mouth seem good.

Well, obviously, something IS wrong
.  No idea what, but I would definitely take her back in and have her blood checked again.  My little old girl who has kitney disease was acting out of sorts, completely lost her appetite, etc., so we suspected her kidneys were doing it, and when we took her in, her kidneys had improved, but it was her liver that was acting up
.  Who would have ever dreamed that?  So, she got rehydrated, got some antibiotics for any possible infection that might have caused the liver issue, got some meds to try to "heal" the liver (since it's the one organ that CAN heal) and we're to return in a month.  Now she's getting better and better.

So, the moral of the story is that it may have absolutely nothing to do with her back leg, could be totally unrelated.  Have you tried different foods?  With my girl, I have found she decided she wanted a completely different food when she got sick.  And it KEEPS changing.  One day she will go nuts for a certain food, then the next meal she won't want to touch it.  So I have literally hundreds of cans of food around here.  I figure between the three cats, hopefully ONE of them will eat an opened can, although I have been proven wrong
The shelters around here love me too, since they get some foods if I order by the case and they get rejected by all three
.

Well I have made an appt for tomorrow. Shelly normally eats anything and everything and tonight she only managed a few mouthfuls, so she is eating less and less. Also she seems uncomfortable when eating. I think the problem lies in the mouth or throat.
