Does anyone have problems with Denamarin dissolving in their cat?

My cat, who is almost 15 has very high liver enzyme values.  Our vet prescribed Denamarin.  I have read wonderful things about it and really want it to work for my cat.  We are able to get the pill down, either in a pill pocket or a cat treat.  We give him water afterwards and have even tried chicken broth and he really drinks this down.  However, we are finding that about half of the time, he throws the pill up 12 to 24 hours later.  It is only partially dissolved after all of that time.  We really want this to work for him, but don't know what else to do! I am thinking that it is getting stuck in his throat or esophagus.  He had eaten several times after he has  taken the pill and it is still not getting down!

I didn't have that issue when I was giving it.  It does sound like it's getting stuck somewhere.  The protective coating is supposed to protect the pill from stomach acid so it dissolves in the intestines that's why the pill is supposed to be given whole rather than cut or crushed.  I haven't tried it but some people coat pills with butter or coconut oil so they go down easier, maybe that would help.

i realize this thread is old.however,i really hope someone can reply.my 15 yr.old cat just started denamarin a month ago.her alt was 204 a month later her reading was 255 the vet says keep him on it for another 2 months then will recheck.however, the vet says my cat has teeth issues.i asked if should get his teeth looked at.he said cat is too old for sedation.i read up where with a liver issue the animal needs to eat.my cat has been picky since the death of another family pet a month ago when everything seemed to start.i am in the process of getting another opinion.has anyone here had this issue before.my cat usualy eats a full can in the monring but since my other cat died a month ago hes active wants to eat but just nibbles.i told my vet this and doest seem to be concerned at least enough in my eyes..can a a get show signs of mourning.and does it take awhile for denamarin to work.my concern the alt went up.thank you
