I feed my kitten dry food and wet food. She is roughly 5-7lb estimated. She is fed in the morning about one to under one cup of the dry food to free feed but she eats most in the morning. Then at 8:30 she is fed wet food for a snack or just better nutritional part of the diet. The can reads one can per 6-8 lbs. But because she is only getting it as s minor part of the diet I just have been giving about a large spoonful. The first month or so she ate it all (my proportion matching her smaller body). But now she won't but take one bite.

I buy 4health from tractor supply and she loves her dry food and like I said loved the wet as well. I have tried all the flavors except adult something because she isn't an adult cat.

I know this isn't a dire situation but I would like her to have more variety and nutrients than just dry alone. Any reason she has stopped liking or way I can get her to like it again?

Is it possible she doesn't like the brand? I would try other brands and see if she likes those. :)

If you want her  to eat more wet food I would suggest feeding less dry ..  First meal give her a full 3 oz can of wet .  Later about a 1/4 cup of dry .  Night meal  a full  3 oz can of wet ...  1 cup of dry is a lot for a cat to eat all at once so she just is not hungry for the wet food after that .. If she seems to not care for the wet food you could try Fancy Feast Kitten Turkey Feast pate . My cats are really super picky and this is the only  can food they will eat ..

I know the wet is better that's why I wanted to feed it as well. But it is more expensive so I just chose to have a split diet. She really liked the brand at first so I will try to cut back and see if she will start to eat it again and if not then I will try other brands. Thanks guys.

I think I'm confused about something that sort of has to do with this thread.   You said she is about 7 pounds and that you feed her a cup or more of dry food plus some canned food?  I thought I've seen that the general rule for calories for a cat is maximum of 25 x weight....so 25 x 7lbs = 175 calories per day.  Every dry food that I'm familiar with has somewhere around 400 calories per cup and most canned food is around 60-100 per 3 oz can.  So, unless I'm really wrong about these calculations, this kitty is just FULL and should be gaining weight like crazy.  I have two boys who are 16 lbs and 14 lbs.  For both cats (not individually) I feed 1/3 cup of dry (about 140 calories) and about 3-3oz cans of wet (max of 300 calories) per day.  That is a total of 440 calories maximum per day for 2 cats (220 per cat) and neither of them is losing weight at all....I've been trying to get them to lose some weight for about 4 months and their weight hasn't changed at all.  So, if you want her to eat more wet, I would think you need to drastically reduce the amount of dry first.

I understand  , I have 2 cats that are a 90 % wet diet . They each get  two  3 oz cans per day  so it can get expensive .

My cats like Fancy Feast pate which is about 50 cents per can  which is appx  $14.00 per week  for 28 cans .

Sheba is another brand that is about 50 cents per can .  Friskies is 50 cents for a 51/2 oz can .

I said one to under one. Very rarely does it reach one cup and that is what my bag of cat food reads. It gives proportions to how much they wiegh. She is also only getting about a spoon of wet. I'm not sure if everyone is like where I live but we have three sizes of spoons and I feed her the smallest. And no she is very skinny people, hopefully joking, say I starve my cat because around me most people just leave a tub of grocery brand dry food out until it spoils. They also say I spoil because I even attempt to give her wet food.

Please be understanding. She is not a huge kitten. She was taken in from the outdoors into my home and is is spoiled rotten. But I am just in highschool and I pay for everything myself  so she will still be eating dry and wet but I will certainly cut back. Thanks again for the feedback.

I am sure you are doing the best for her ... All cats are different . They all do not like the same things and  Cats can be picky . I know mine are ..

2cats4me how much do your cats weigh? I feed mine fancy feast pate' as well... 2 cans per day... but she doesn't get dry, but am "thinking" about adding some dry just overnight.

@MnM   Hi , My male cat  is  17 lbs   ( needs to lose a bit ) my female is 10 lbs ..  They each get  2 cans of FF per day  plus  1/4 cup of Wysong Epigen 90 .

The reason I give dry as well is because my cats are super picky and sometimes they decide they do not want to eat the wet food  . So I give them a break then go back to the FF ..

You are welcome .. If you are looking into dry food check out Wysong Epigen 90  @  www.chewy.com

It is excellent dry food  , less than 5% carbs .
