Hey,

I rescued a kitten not long ago, so I have a few questions. My male kitten is currently 9 weeks old.

I bought 10 cans of Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea (canned food, 3oz / 85g), and he likes it. The thing is, I'm not sure how much ounces I should be feeding him a day. The feeding instructions says: "Kittens: Feed free choice, or 3 times a day as much as they want.", but I don't understand it. Does it mean a whole can a day, but feed him small meals, 3-4 times a day? Should I feed him more than 1 can a day (3oz/85g)? If so, how many?

I really need quick answers, because my kitten is crying. Thanks for helping, guys.

Welcome to the site :wavey:

At 9 weeks old ideally he should have four meals a day. I would feed him as much as he wants to eat for each meal. In a few days you will soon find out how much he will eat on average in one sitting.

Kittens eat way more food than an adult cat due to them growing and burning it off in play. That's why it's recommended to feed them as much as they want to eat :D

Thanks GemsGem!

So if I buy a Natural Balance canned food of 6 ounces (170g), and feed him a whole can a day (4 meals, 1.5 ounces per meal), will this be enough for a kitten to grow with?
