We have recently adopted a 5mo old kitten from a shelter. When we got her she sneezed and had slight eye discharges. We instantly switched her food after a few days from the dreaded meow mix which we were unaware about to natures variety instinct rawboost to help her immune system. After a week it's the same story so she saw a vet today. Without a test he believes it is FHV. They did not test there just recommended an antibiotic which my research shows is no help without a secondary infection which he didn't mention so we opted out of that. She is gettin tested at another vet tomorrow. I've been doing lots of research and saw a few well recommended things which are lysine and immugen. Now my question is this... Has anyone had any experience or knowledge on rather we should treat her with both supplements or maybe on/off or one daily one however often? New to all this need some advice thank you.

I would suggest adding L-Lysine 250 mg twice a day (this is the recommended dosage for kittens...adults is 500 mg twice daily.)

Does your kitten have discharge (nasal or eye?) Is there an coloring to the discharge?

No nose discharge besides when sneezing then its a creamy light yellow tint? Her eyes are the same but when we rub it off with a tissue from the eyes it has a slight reddish brown tint to it also. And so you think the lysine alone would be ok? Appreciate the comment

The creamy light yellow discharge sounds like a secondary infection.  Me personally, I'd give the antibiotic.  Keep on eye on the colors of discharge, that can help indicate a simple FHV flare up vs a secondary infection associated with an FHV flare up.

The lysine is a twice per day dosage, and often increased during flare ups.  I'm not familiar with the other supplement.

Do you know what colors would show more of the FHV and which would be another infection?

Any discharge with color would indicate a secondary infection. FHV does not cause colored discharge.
