I've had them all in my guest bedroom know for 4wks, but I was wondering ~ does the mom need a break? I try my darnedest not to intervene on her schooling, but a couple times she appears a bit to rough w/ a kitten or two.. She doesn't act rough with anyone in particular, but I hate to see her be a little rough. Is this okay, or should I let her roam the house and lock my other cats up in my bedroom for a nite or two?
I know I would need a break with 4 babies :)

Sometimes momma cats do look like they are being a but rough with their kittens as they get a little bigger, and start to play and climb about more.  She will show them when they are pushing boundaries or doing things they shouldn't.  Does she have somewhere up high in the room she can go to is she wants to be away from her little ones and not get pestered?  If not, this might be appreciated.

With letting her out to be with your other cats,  I think from your other threads that your other cats are neutered, but am not sure if she has been socialised with them yet or not.  I would still be cautious about introductions if they have not met as her kittens are still very dependent on her so her natural behaviours will be to protect and she will natrually want to ensure she is dominant in relation to all your other cats.  It is likely to be much more calm if you wait until she is not feeding her kittens any more - and ideally spayed.

Sometimes Chloe, my cat, treats Puppy, her daughter, like a mouse (I imagine). She'll draw Puppy in with her front paws, bite at her neck with ears back, and then start kicking with both hind feet.

I was quite pissed off to see this the first few times, but now I think Chloe is just getting over excited and has done the same to me. She will refrain and not bite hard or not kick hard etc.
