Hi everyone. My name is Arlene.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 13 yr old, both females. The younger, Tinker, is a loving, playful cat who has slowed down a bit and I thought she would like a younger "friend". I knew my gamma eldest, Raven, would be under the bed for a while as she got used to the newbie. So I went into my local no-kill shelter looking for one 6 month old kitten.

I had Siamese as I grew up and have been looking for Siamese every time I adopted here. All my cats are from there except the ones my daughter left with us. Okay, so I walk in and lo and behold, they had- 10 mins earlier- put out two half Siamese, 4 mo old brother and sister that had been picked up with mom as strays two months earlier. How could I walk away from them? The male is a snowshoe with a blaze on his nose, and the female looks looks like a Himalayan. She is lilac point and will have long hair.

And so now I am a four cat family. With two newbies, I knew it would take a long time to let them get to know each other. I rigged a baby gate up so they could see each other before I let them out of their room. This has been their home for a month now.

I put them to bed in their own room at night so the older cats can have the run of the house, and to teach them to sleep while we are asleep.

Tinker is doing fine now, even running with them as they careen around corners first thing in the morning. Raven is out from under the bed, most of the time now, but has not made her usual foray into the rest of the house yet. I expect that to happen eventually. I am not in a hurry. She has actually touched noses once and only growls a bit when both are around.

I had just come home from a trip to the northern Scottish Islands so the female is named Orkney and the male is Shetland.

I have learned a lot and am now settled into a wet food that they ALL like (minor miracle after lots of testing) and we are all much more relaxed. (WOW, they eat a LOT! :lol3: ) I am actually glad I brought both home as they play with each other non stop unless they are eating or sleeping and do not bug the other cats too much for that energy release kittens need.

I have had four cats before, but not as kittens, and promised my husband that I am NOT on my way to being a crazy cat lady. (Now looking at a ceiling runway for them, but don't tell him!)

Welcome to TCS Arlene!

Siamese are very beautiful cats.
And it is great that the newbies - Orkney and Shetland - have adjusted well to their new home and will soon be getting along with Tinker and Raven.

Welcome to TCS!! I also went to the shelter with the intention of adopting one cat and ended up leaving with 2. A pair of Persian sisters. The girls were in a room with their brother who had been adopted already and was waiting for his family to pick him up the following day. I went to meet Lilith who was very outgoing and playful as was her brother. The shelter worker who brought me in the room pointed into the corner and told me I could just "ignore her. she's not very friendly". Another cat that could almost be Lilith's twin was hiding under a chair. Her name was Midge. After a while of playing with Lilith and her brother and giving them treats, I noticed Midge kept inching closer. I called to her and she came a little closer. I tossed her some treats and she eventually came over and let me pet her and played with the other two. She became comfortable enough that she went to the food bowl right beside me and ate and allowed me to pet her while she ate. I knew I was going to take Lilith and I felt bad leaving Midge behind having to watch both siblings get adopted and taken away in a 24 hour period. At this point, I was still planning on getting one. I went up to the desk and the same girl who brought me into the room asked how it went and if I wanted to adopt Lilith. I heard a voice say, "I'll take both of them". WTH? Who said that? I then realized that, well, I had.
Sophie (AKA Sophiesaurus)                                                                                                                   Lilith (AKA Lily Belle)

Oh, lucky you! They sound gorgeous. I'm glad to hear the whole family are getting on well together.

@Kat0102 Sophie looks a lot like  my black bob tail kitty, Carpet. Does she have a short tail? Carpet's is about 5 cm long with a big plume of fluff like Sophie has.

Sophie's tail looks like Lilith's except darker. It's long and fluffy

They are beautiful, Sophie is a good name, she looks like a Sophie. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
Thank you.I agree. Midge didn't suit her. She's so sweet. She absolutely loves my shoes. She will curl up on them and rub her cheeks all over them. Just my shoes, not my daughter's. Lilith likes to lay on my feet.

Sophie is making sure she leaves her scent with you [emoji]128518[/emoji]. My cat Oliver is the shy one, he is really afraid of people. He has moments each day when I don't scare him, and during those times us is so loving. That's when he starts rubbing his face against my shins & feet. If he's brave enough to climb I into my lap, he rubs on my hands and arms. He will also rub his whole body on the dog toys, its really cute, & I swear he smiles when he does it

Hi all!

Kat, yes, Orkney is a gamma like Midge (Lilith). I have another Gamma, Raven. She is cooly allowing the babies in the same room an

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""d   ( Shetland wanted to say hi--LOL)  sometimes on the bed where she is. Her hiding place is under my bed, she is so big she can hardly get under there anymore! She has always been shy, under the bed when anyone comes,  staying there if there are kids but venturing out if there are only adults. I am hoping Orkney is less shy, but she runs now when new people come in so I think she will be like Raven. It seems more long-haired cats are gammas.

Tinker is beta and loves to play. She is now playing with the kittens, up to a point. She is still teaching them manners. She and Shetland are very much alike.

I have often wondered what the heck I did to myself, but then I play with them, watch them interact with my other kitties and everything so far is worth it. I know life will calm down in a few months but right now, I am at least into a pattern. Boy oh boy, does this remind me of being a new mom! At least I can put these two to bed at night in their own room! LOL

I bet you can guess which is Raven!
