I'm not sure when this started however I know it's been quite a while. At first I thought he was urinating while I bathed him because he was scared but now I am beginning to notice that the pee is a strange color. It sort of has this rusty color. I assumed it was dirt but there's no way he can be that dirty. I know he's a very fluffy cat but he's pretty clean despite the fleas and an indoor cat. When we last visited the vet, about a month ago from now, his veterinarian told us he's perfectly healthy and prescribed pills for his fleas but I can't accept that. I am worried about him and taking him to the vet as soon as I can. I just hope I'm not over reacting too much. He's very purrcious precious to me.

I should add he doesn't let me dry him with a towel near his tail or butt. I think it hurts him but I don't know. He's a huge crybaby and cries a lot so I can never tell when he's in actual pain.

Welcome to the site :wavey:

If he has had fleas, then this red rusty color you are seeing when bathing him is flea dirt. Flea dirt is flea poop which is basically dried blood hence the red rusty color.

Soon as the fleas have all been killed, the flea dirt in his coat will either wash out when you bath him or fall out of his coat naturally.

Agree it he has fleas.  Treat him soon and if it is a topical find out when you can bathe again as some are best left on a few days before water hits.

It sounds like a urinary tract infection. One of my cats first symptoms of urinary issues was peering during bath time. Now that he is better it hasn't happened again.

Flea dirt will cause a red orange stain around the neck, so I doubt it is fleas. Time for a vet appointment for sure! If there is blood in the urine it is a bad sign.

Base of the tail is usually where a lot of flea dirt is.  Easy way is BEFORE the bath flea comb him and if you get the specks you know it is dirt getting wet.
