first dose of deworming

my stray kitten got her first dose of deworming  at the vet but i just bought an over the counter that has great reviews and was wondering if instead of going back to the vet i could just give her that? help!!

Honestly, I have found that OTC dewormes do not work as well as those you can get a the vet. Your kitten would also need another fecal exam to make sure you are treating any and all parasites (there isn't 1 dewormer that covers everything.) Eventhough her most recent fecal may have been negative or showed one particular parasite, the life stage/shedding cycle differs for each organism and it's likely something could prove differently with the next fecal.

You have to be careful with over the counter dewormers. Some of them are more or less the same stuff you would get from the vet, but others are not as good - less effective and more dangerous. You could ask your vet about the one you bought to find out if it's a good idea to use it.
