Years ago, when I had Lance & Lorenzo, I noticed that when they had two identical litter boxes to use, they both used one box for peeing, and the other box for pooing. It was as if they had designated one as a urinal and the other for solid waste.

Now that they are gone and we have 4 new cats, I noticed that they are doing the same thing. We have two identical litter boxes in the master bathroom, and one is used exclusively for peeing, the other for solids only. I've even seen one of the cats go into one box, pee, then go into the other box & poo.

Have any of you noticed your cat(s) doing the same thing?

Yep!  Same in my house.  I have one cat that uses one box for pee and one for poop.  The other cat doesn't care!

Absolutely!  And they like their own boxes for each... so, two cats, four litter boxes in my house.
