My 7 month old indoor cat was just spayed yesterday (We brought her to the vet at 10am and picked her up on the same day at 8pm) We were told that she could only be given food after 10pm on the day she went home. We gave her some dried solid food, treats and water at around 10pm and she responded well to them. She ate her usual amount and drank quite a lot of water, this being her first meal since she started fasting at 10pm the previous day.

So today i tried to feed her again after noticing she didn't touch her food much over the night (My girlfriend and i stayed up till 5am to monitor her) She had a small amount of food and water around 2am - 4am and completely stopped eating and drinking for the whole of today. I have offered her both wet and dry food and even her treats but she simply refuses to eat or drink. She has gone for about 15 hours of not eating and drinking and i'm really worried!

I can only contact my vet tomorrow morning.

Some additional details:

• She has been lethargic and looking tired since yesterday but i assume that it's just because she's in pain right?

• Her wound is okay and she isn't really licking it much either. Stitches are in place.

• The treats i gave her are very strong smelling (She can smell the packet being opened in the living room from the kitchen) and i've tried giving her Fancy Feast wet cat food

• She has been to her litterbox a few times. Mostly pee but also small amounts of poo

I would call the vet and let them know, ask if they think you should bring her back to be seen. Did they give you any pain meds for her? I've always been sent home with a few days worth for my girls after their spays.

I was not given any pain meds and they told me that she should be okay in a few days. Just realised that the timezone in the forum is different from mine. My country's time right now is 8:40pm on wednesday.

Well, if she hasn't improved by morning, you can call then. She may be in too much pain to want to eat. It can be dangerous for a cat to go more than a couple of days without eating, so don't let it go on too long.
