I took my cat Audrey to the vet yesterday because she was acting funny and not eating or drinking.

She peed in the cat carrier on the way there so the doctor was able to get a urine sample and diagnosed

her with a urinary tract infection. She also had a fever. He gave her some fluids and sent me home with an

anti-biotic.

Since she is 12 years old, he recommended blood work and I agreed. I got the results this morning and

it turns out she is also anemic.

Are these things related to each other in any way or does this poor cat have two separate issues going

on with her right now?

Most likely it is two different things as anemia is a symptom of something else going on with your kitty. How anemic was your cat? Did the vet seemed concerned about the anemia?

I don't think your cat would lose enough blood, even from blood in the urine to be anemic but anything is possible.

Thank you! I have a call into my vet to discuss the anemia finding. I may even stop there after work tomorrow. I love my vet but for what I paid for blood work, I deserve to have a conversation about the results.
