Haven't been on in quite a few months now.  Have 2 kitties who suffered a bad URI some time back.  Since then have had them on 250 Lysine twice daily and they have been doing so fine.  Last week I had moved, just down the street.  My daughter and I carried the kitties to the car in carriers and then into the new apartment.  During the packing and moving Iet several days slip without giving them their Lysine and then there was the complete fright and stress to them.  Just a few days ago they both began sneezing.  The little 11 mo. old has a warm nose and is having bouts of sneezing and you can tell she's a little under the weather with it.   But my concern is for my Mia who is 11 years old.  It has taken its toll on her.  She is harder to medicate so I had just been giving her 250 Lysine every other day in a syringe with ther arthritis med.  When I put it in her food she does not always eat so couldn't count on that.    But anyway, she is white in color so her little red nose really shows.   She is warm, eyes running clear water, waking now and again to severe sneezing bouts.  Once in awhile after a sneezing bout mouth breathing but not rapid breathing though.  I started today giving her one whole cap 500 mg twice a day per syringe.  I am getting her to take wet food mixed and mashed in a good bit of warm water and have seen her do some drinking also.   Seems to be using the litter box okay.   Just lots of sleeping and so sick.

So now my question.    Does she necessarily have to go to the vet to get antibiotics??   Will antibiotics actually help this kind of illness?   I have her on the Lysine but way back when a few folks suggested another supplement to go along with the Lysine that really, really gives a great boost in getting well.  I can't for the life of me remember what that was....does anyone know or have a great suggestion?   I'm heart sick watching her be this way.   :(     Thank you............whatever

I believe that anytime a cat as a viral URI there is a chance it can become a secondary bacterial infection so antibiotics could be indicated.  Your vet may vbe willing to discuss this over the phone with you...
