Hi there! I'm new here, and am expecting to meet some really interesting folks who share my love of cats.I have 2.5 cats. hehe..let me explain that one. I have two inside cats, and one outside cat who timeshares with me and my neighbor. Currently he lives more at my neighbors. I think he is going to officially adopt him soon. I have kids and this kitty seems to prefer the quiet of my bachelor neighbors place. Oh well...cats are fickle :tounge2: My two cats are Onyx, a huge 14 lb all black kitty, about 2 years old, and my new kitten. He is a long haired orange tabby who is as of yet unnamed. Any suggestions would be welcome .He reminds me of sunshine as he is such a light orange. So...a bit about me for anyone whos interested. I'm 25 years old and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I have 2 kids aged 6 and 4. In september I will be going back to University to become a Registered Nurse which will take me four years. Other than that, theres not much exciting about me. Anyone who'd like to introduce themselves is more than welcome. Thanks!

Welcome Melissa.

Your kitties sound adorable. 14 lbs. Wow big cat

You sure a right about cats being fickle. We had a neighborhood cat that just traveled from house to house getting completely spoiled!

Onyx is a great name. I'll think on one for the kitty, but I am sure the people here can come up with something adorable.

I'm looking forward to hearing more storied from you. Congratulations on going back to school to become a nurse. Hard work but very rewarding!!

I too am 25, I live in Portland, Oregon. The people here are fantastic. Welcome to the community!

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the site. I'm fairly new too and have learned lots about my kitties and their behavior on this site.

14 pounds is a big kitty. My neighbor has a cat that weighs 24 pounds. It's the biggest cat I've ever seen. His mother is a small full blooded siamese, don't know about his father but he must have been huge. He is beautiful and goes for walks on a leash. From a distance one would never know it was a cat and not a dog because he's so big.

Bet you'll get lots of good ideas for names here. My favorite for an orange tabby is Marmalade. Only drawback is 3 syllables. I love the name Onyx.

Melissa hi,
I'm also a newbie here I'm 26 & if everything turns out OK, I'll also be a student this fall after 3 years of doing nothing actually I have a Molecular Biology & Genetics BS but I will make my Ph D in Psychology. Hopefully I can't work in USA because of my visa so I thought making Ph D would be better than doing nothing.

My Minnosh has an orange tabby brother, living with a friend now & she named her Orange You can check the cat pages in this site to have some ideas about kitty names.

Hi Melissa! Welcome to The Cat Site! You're furbabies sound absolutely adorable! You should post some pictures sometime of you and your babies

My name is Cassandra (Cassie). I currently live in San Francisco.. but am moving out of the city to live in the suburbs (sp?). My boyfriend and I have 3 siamese boys. Their names are Sebastian, Drew, and Jake. Spoiled they are!

I have no kids so my kittens are my babies. I hope to start school soon and I'm having a hard time deciding what career field to go into. I change my mind monthly on it I think. Currently my interests are pointing me to becoming a o.b. gyn... but that could change next month... so until then.. stay tuned!

I look forward to seeing your posts, learning more about you, and getting to know you. I assure you that you will love it here.. the people are incredibly friendly and if you need any kind of kitty advice .. this is the place to be!

Hi Melissa. My orange cat, named, Sunny Sunshine, named after the sun, soon became just Sunny. I had a pretty orange cat when I was 10 and I named her, Tiger Lilly. She had stripes and looked like a small tiger.

I am new to the forum and I enjoy it a lot. Hoping to see more posts from you.

Melissa; I think Loco is an excellent name for your tabby. I have an orange tabby (3yrs. old) His name is MoMo (That Monster Boy). I don't know what it is about tabbies, but they are all "characters" My MoMo is also a Monster of Love. He craves attention. He is currently smitten by Michaela Kristin Haran (Mr. Cat's beautiful tortise shell female)

I welcome you to the site. My name is Darlene. I am 52 and retired. I live in St. Louis, MO. where I provide a home for 6 indoor and 2 outdoor cats. We also have 2 dogs. I look forward to seeing you post here frequently. Now, a few blobs to usher you into our "family" :jarswim::pinky:

Gee,thanks for the hearty welcomes! I think I'm going to like it here! I don't have any pics of my kitties on here yet, but I can tell you that my cat Onyx looks exactly like this Poor guy is recovering from an operation at the moment so hes pretty miserable. He loves other cats, but can't gather up the energy to play with little Loco yet Oh well, he'll feel much better when the Collar comes off for good in about 7 days.
