Good morning, all,

Three weeks ago, we rescued a 4-year old gray male cat from our local SPCA. He is the 6th in our home. (all resuces from kill shelters.) Having introduced many cats into a new household, we went through the proper measures. After 4 days, we slowly introduced him to the rest of the pack. Everything went swimmingly well and they quickly established a hierarchy. We had a balanced house now - 3 boys, 3 girls.

For the first week and a half though, we would joke that the new boy never slept. He literally patroled the house day in and day out. When he would settle down, he would have to be near either myself or my fiance. He would rest on us, rest on our pillows, and basically never leave our side.

At the end of his first week, we noticed his eye weeping. The vet diagnosed upper respiratory infection. He got a convenience shot of antibitoics and we apply bacitracin to his clean twice a day. No other issues... except one.

He has now turned into a cat. :-) He spends most of his day sleeping, not spending much time with us, but eats, drinks, uses litter boxes just fine. He is now acting like the rest of the cats. We can get him to play occassionally, otherwise, he just hides out in his "spot" on the dining room chairs and doesn't really bother with anyone or anybody.

SHould I be concerned? Should I chalk this up to him being comfortable in the house? Or is this a side effect of him still battling the URI and give it another week or two?

Thanks,

Jennifer
