I have two cats. One is a year old and one is still a kitten. Whenever I go outside, my older cat will meow and meow and meow at the door while I'm just sitting on the porch. I can't figure out why. I've opened windows, I've even opened my other door that has a screen for her as well but she still meows at at the same door while I'm outside. At first I thought it was normal because I thought: okay maybe she is lonely but then it started getting extremely excessive. I don't know what to do and I'm wondering if she even acts this way when I actually leave the house to go to the store or something.

My happy place.
Awww It sounds to me like she just wants to be with you. My girls will meow at me if they see me out the window if I go to my car or something. When your gone and out of sight she probably settles down. If she isn't excessively meowing when you are in the house with her I don't think you need to worry. Sounds like she loves you very much.:)

If she's used to being by your side all the time when you're inside, she probably just wants to be out there with you. When I go out on the balcony and my cat sees me go out, she finds me along the window and meows and paws at it. She knows there's an obvious barrier even though she can still see and hear me, she can't walk up to me and around my legs and she can't receive pets. She does the same at the bathroom door.

Our older cat is a HUGE whiner about being left alone. We thought maybe the above cat would be good company for him, but even with her around, as soon as the doors shut and there's a barrier between either human and him, he starts howling. There have been times where we've left the apartment but are waiting for the elevator and we can hear his meows through the front door, and times we've gotten off of the elevator to come home and heard him meowing for us already. We're not sure if he does it whenever he hears the elevator ding or if he'd been meowing the entire time.

Sometimes he'll realize he's alone and meow for a good 15 minutes, then settle down, wake up again and if he's still alone, start meowing again, and just repeat that until someone comes home and pets/entertains/feeds him. I hear this a lot from my office with the door shut when my boyfriend is gone for the day.
