Food recommended for cat with UTI issues

Posting on behalf of a friend who has 3 cats. She cannot afford the veterinarian prescribed cat food for her cat who keeps getting urinary tract problems. Or rather, she has 3 cats and they all switch around and she can't afford for all 3 of her cats to end up eating the prescription food. Is there a commercial brand (not prescription) that has the same kinds of supplements, ash content, or whatever it is to keep cats healthy who have this problem?  She doesn't need cheap food but I went through a similar problem with my dogs and found a food everyone could eat that took care of one dog's problem,. I am new here so pardon my ignorance. I have had my very first cat ever the past year. He's fine. Eats everything but mice and the huge enormous cave crickets we have here which is why I got him to begin with----but I love him anyway.

Those are great ideas.  I wil tell her about Fancy Feast  Classic, Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract etc. I know dog foods much better and see that Canidae/Felidae makes grain free in large cans as does Holistic Select. I bet buying large cans will help with feeding 3 cats. I am a new cat owner myself and add in wet food sometimes jsut becuase I learned cats need mroe moisture than dogs. My cat happens to LOVE drinking from the dog water bowl (and the toilet). He is especially fond of my neighbor's Koi pond water lol (but never catches a fish whew).  I don't worry as much about his hydration buit I know some cats don't drink much at all.
