Help!!!!! :help:

We have 4-5 pear trees in our yard. Normally we get very few, if any, pears from them because the squirrels get them all. This year for some reason we have TONS of pears. I've made pear pies, crisps and breads so far and will be making more of those. I've started giving pears to friends as well. I don't can, so I can't make pear preserves. I've added some of the Asian pears to salads for dinner as well.

Any other ideas on what to do with them?

Here's one of the trees:

@AbbysMom -- wow! those are lovely limbs full of pears there!

do you have freezer space available? pears can be frozen. you just peel them, slice them and place them on trays, then place in the freezer until frozen. they can then be transferred to freezer zipper bags or such.

one of my favorite things to do with pears is to make apple crisp using half apples and half pears. apples and pears go very well together. i also like to make pear custard pies.

I absolutely adore pears and would be thrilled to take some of them off your hands, Karen. They look lovely!

You can prepare your pear pie filling and then freeze it that way.

Check out allrecipes.com for pear bread, pear scones, pear salad, pear everything! You could freeze the bread.

Put them at the end of your driveway to try to sell them or even give them away.....people would take them.

I have recipes for spiced pears, baked pears, blueberry pear cobbler, pear cheesecake, pear fritters, and well, you get the idea. If there's anything you want, I'll see what I have for you. You know, pear applesauce might be pretty good and I bet you could freeze it. Pear cake.

YUM!  Sounds like you got some good suggestions above. Good  luck!  Cake sounds good, kinda like an upside down apple cake, but w/ pears instead!

I definitely got some good ideas! Thanks, everyone! I think I'll be trying the pear sauce idea first. :)

Sell them! Or, give them away if you feel like being generous.
