Wanting to say hello to everyone! I am new to the site but not to cats. I am currently owned by one very spoiled rescue girl
Yes, I -not we, she views the males in household, both human and canine as not being noteworthy (unless it's dinner time)!
After losing our 14 y/o cats within 6 months of other (3 years ago), I wasn't sure if we would ever have cats again. We have been graced by many cats over the years, but those two, Sheep & Fish were both feral kitten rescues that we had since they week only 4-5 week old. Not litter mates - just coincidence that they came to us so close together. Needless to say we were more than heartbroken to lose both - especially so close together. We tried to foster but it was too soon. Late in 2013, I told my DH - I really wanted another cat in our lives and household. He was hesitant. Finally said ok but with stipulations that I don't really think he thought I could find....
Silly man - after almost 30 years he should know better!
His stipulations were: female, kitten or under one year and Maine Coon or similar "looking", not red or tuxedo (Sheep was red long haired boy and Fish was tiny DMH tuxedo girl). He wanted a big cat. He didn't know (and still doesn't) about Petfinder - heehee.
It took me few days but I found a gorgeous 4-5 month old female Maine Coon mix in local rescue group. She wasn't available yet because she had just been spayed but I applied and our adoption application was approved. I knew it was the right time, right organization and right Cat when the day she would be available for us to adopt was .... my birthday
BirdieCat has been with us 10 months now and has efficiently taken over as the household manager. I will tell her rescue story later when I set up HER page, but let's just say that us girls stick together and she is just a treasure!
