Many of you know that I've been doing some union work for Dear Richard. Basically some typing and keeping track of things with him. Nothing major, but I've kind of turned into his secretary. Every once in a while, I'll buy a cookbook and he'll pay for it as my "salary"
. I have a very serious cookbook addiction; Rick would say it's just on the edge of being out of control.

Well, last night, I was watching QVC's In the Kitchen with David and they were hawking a Pillsbury cookbook that seemed a little intriguing. I don't use much Pillsbury stuff, but figured I can always put my own spin on some of the recipes using my own crescent doughs, pie crusts, and such. Rick saw some of the foods presented and said, "Oh, go ahead and get it!"

So I went to Amazon, where the stuff is much cheaper (free shipping, too). Ordered 3 cookbooks:

The Pillsbury Big Book of Easy Baking with Refrigerated Dough

Junior's Cheesecake Cookbook

Junior's Desserts Cookbook

I've been intrigued by the Junior's cookbooks for quite a while now, so figured now was a good time to order them. (Junior's was a restaurant in NY and, supposedly, their cheesecakes and other desserts are to-die-for.) The books got very good ratings. When I told Rick, I bought the Junior's books, too, he asked me what was so special about them. And then, when I said that one was just cheesecakes, he just smiled. Then he asked, "So when are they coming? And when will you make me a cheesecake?" Cookies and cheesecakes, that is my Dear Richard.

I love cookbooks too, but I never, ever look at mine. I find that when I want to make something and or looking for new ideas I turn to the internet.  However, I just can't bring myself to get rid of my cookbooks.

I think if there were in my kitchen where I could easily access them I might use them. But they are in a bookcase in my spare bedroom (cat's room) and out of the way to go for recipe ideas.

Post pics of the cheesecake you make DH!!

Oh, no, I do use my cookbooks. I won't buy one unless there are at least two recipes that I know I'm going to use. And I will take a cookbook to bed, too, and read it like a novel. I make notes in my books, reflecting changes in recipes.

I'll post pictures!

That is how I am with mine lately.  I've been using the crock pot one I got from our Secret Santa exchange, a mini-Taste of Home one, and my big red Betty Crocker one; but otherwise they mostly look pretty.  I have 2 binders with sheet protectors that I put any recipes I print off the internet.  Thats great because you can't ruin the pages!  I also pull them out to make notes on recipe changes but also how much we liked it and what could be better if I try it again.

My cookbooks used to sit nicely on this little side table my grandfather made; but after DD knocked them over a 2nd time I started just piling them up.

Let me know how the cheesecake book goes Pam!  I love cheesecake!  My Gram loved watching that show too.

I have binder with sheet protectors too for a lot of my recipes. I have so many pages ripped out of magazines though. I need to find a better way.

I hope you enjoy your new cookbooks, Pam. :)

I have binders out the wazoo chalk-full of recipes, too. The poor computer is full of recipes from all over the place. But there's always that cookbook out there that calls to me.

Yep, me, too.  I love my cookbooks, I'm a book lover in general and don't want to get rid of them. In general, though, I look online for recipes.  But I also have 3x5 cards in a shoebox (legacy of how my mother kept recipes), magazines, pages ripped out of magazines, bookmarks on my computer....it's a mess!
