Mix of Wet and Dry, Crystals

Hi.  My kittens (now cats actually) have never had anything but wet food.  Lately I've been considering switching one of their 3 meals to dry for a number of reasons.  Does anyone have any comments about the Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Formula?   Will the extra carbs put weight on them?  Is it just a marketing gimmick?  thanks!

I have discovered very late in the game through a cat specialist that if you can keep feeding wet do that especially if your cat has a history of urinary issues. Dry food is apparently not their friend. I have a kitty with a weight issue too and the vet did mention that dry has more calories than wet so if they prefer wet feed them wet. I did mention the pro plan urinary formula and she essentially said if you can't afford the prescription dry do the over the counter urinary wet formula. I mentioned Friskies. That was all I can afford and that was fine with her. That being said I don't think a small amount of dry food will make too much difference in weight. If you free feed the dry it probably will.

My cats eat  Fancy Feast Kitten Turkey Feast Classic ( each get 2 cans per day )  plus

1/4 cup of Wysong Epigen 90 .( less than 5%carbs )

Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract Formula has nearly 40 % carbs .. .. 

A few brands with  lower carbs are  Wysong Epigen 90 , Wysong Epigen  ( both less than 5% or

 Evo Turkey & Chicken about 12 %

My male cat is  16 lbs and vet wants him to lose at least 2 lbs . Since being on the lower carb kibble and wet food  he has lost about 1 lb..It has been a struggle to get my cats to eat wet food but now I have something they like they eat it twice a day with kibble in between ..

It's tough I've got a big boy too!!!
