We need help getting a lost cat from Ogallala, Nebraska to Denver Airport for a flight home to NYC (or Newark).  We can PAY someone to help because we know its 3 hours from Denver to Ogallala Nebraska. Denver is the closest airport!

The cat was lost enroute to NYC and is at a veterinary clinic in Ogallala, NE. The clinic has had no luck finding anyone to help transport the cat to Denver which is the closest airport.  We did a fundraiser to pay the vet bills and bring this cat home to her family but are STUCK because we can't get the cat to the airport.

This is a legitimate request.  Contact me to verify. I am a Licensed psychologist in NYC metro area and pet lover.
You can see the fundraiser at http://www.gofundme.com/Bring-Justice-Meow-Home  We don't need money. We need HELP!

You can check out my legitimacy at www.drlindabusch.com

Please let me know if you know someone who can help or just spread the word.  We don't want to resort to Craigslist. When I was in college I would have JUMPED at a chance to make $100 for a day's work.  We can also cover gas and parking at the airport.

I'm slightly confused.  You say you can't find someone to drive the 3 hours for $100 and yet you've raised $617 for this purpose already and are looking still for more money.  You can't hire a cab to make the drive, and you're a licensed professional in NYC and you can't afford to get your cat home?

Sorry for the confusion. If you read carefully, you can see that I said we do NOT need anymore money. We collected enough for the vet bills, the flight home, etc.  Ogallala is 3 hours from the closest airport so its 6 hours round trip plus probably an hour at the airpoort.  Ogallala has a population of 4500 so no, they do not have taxi services.  I am a Licensed Psychologist who has been disabled for 3 years so no, I do not have the money to just give my friend (cat's mommy). I am doing this to help her becuase she has very little money  but is a devoted cat mommy.  I have consistent internet access (not just a cell phone), debit and credit cards, landlines, etc.  I do know the owner WELL and the cat.

I am sorry to see that my honest reaching out for help has led to so many questions about ME. If you knew me personally and my story, I do not think you would be judging me. I only aded the information about me to show I am a credible person and not a fraud. Apparently it had the opposite effect.  Still need hellp, and if YOU can find a cab company to do a 6 hour round trip with a cat for $100 plus gas, please let me know.

I have contacted 4 or 5 of them. Their costs were over $1000 except one who could do it for $990 and get the cat as far as Harrisburgh PA which is driveable.  The cat had some veterinary bills (nothing outrageous). Funds are tight but people were generous and we CAN get this cat home if we can just find a driver out there. The veterinary clinic may still be looking. The travel crate and all the paperworka nd supplies should get to them today so maybe they will then see we are serious. Thank you.  I wish I could drive the 24 hours to Ogallala myself with my friend but I am in poor health and just cannot do it (plus I am a widowed mom so there are logistical obstacles). Oh to be young and be able to do road trips again!

I am licensed in NY State. I work in NJ. Anyway, I've been in poor health and barely working for the past 3 years after my husband died. Plus, do you have any idea how poorly clinical psychologists who still accept insurance in the NYC metro area earn? My mechanic makes more! But that is besides the point. We're all here becuase we love cats, right?  Please help if you can...

So it wasn't possible for the cat service to take them from Ogallala to Denver?  But perhaps there aren't any services like that just for that area.

That's exactly it.  The area in Nebraska is REALLY remote. Its a cute little "old west" town but really tiny.  Today we are paying the vet bill and all the supplies arrive. Maybe the clinic can then find someone.  When I was younger and in better health..I'd do just about anything to make $100 in a day!

We got good news!  A cat shelter in Ft. Collins Colorado put the word out to all their volunteers!  I got calls!  Hard to coordinate people's schedules with the clinic and the airlines--no direct flights on weekends, clinic closed weekends and after 5 pm, people work, etc.  BUT, I think we did it!   We raised JUST enough money to cover costs but I think Justice Meow is flying home Friday!  This has taken hours and hours!  When I first started the fundraising I thought it woud be no problem until I found out how far away Ogallala Nebraska is from..well anything! I am wiring money tomorrow to the driver to pay for the flight and her expenses....scary in a way but that's how it has to happen so I must have faith!  One small step for a cat...one giant leap for Humankind.

I had hoped to have enouigh extra to make a nice donation to the Animal Clinic or this Cat Shelter but it looks like we have just enough to just cover the expenses (cargo flight home with tax is almost $300!). Maybe after Justice is home, I'll do a fundraiser for the shelter. They really came through---4 of their volunteers called me! And if anyone wants to know a great shelter with beautiful people in Colorado...cheers to the Fort Colins Cat Rescue and Spay/Neuter Clinic!  https://www.fccrsnc.org/

Thanks so much. We are so worried wiring money to someone we don't know; but she is a volunteer at a cat rescue (verified---actually 4 of their volunteers offered help). Also, its such a long flight for a cat!  I flew my dog twice 20 years ago. One time was OK but the 2nd time, he came out to me ON THE BAGGAGE CAROUSOL and he peed on himself :(  Airlines seem to take better care of pets these days (we will pick up this kitty at the ticket counter) but its still scary.
