I'm so sorry you are going through this. I wish I had more words but I don't other than to say just love your baby and when and if it's time you will know.

Absolutely shameful that these vets are grabbing your money and not providing a diagnosis. There is no excuse for it. "Gee, I never saw this before.... sorry can't help you" is not a professional response. How about making some calls to mentors or doing some research for heavens sake? There are some great vets out there but they are far and few between. Most of them are just plain pathetic.

It doesn't look like he's ready yet. He did a few things today that made me believe that. Like walking off the bed finally, out to the living room, and into the litter box to attempt to poo, I was crying tears of joy for once! He only pooped a little and it was stuck in him, but mommy helped him push! He also ate a little on his own, and seems to be responding a little better to the meds and food I am mixing for him. Yes he is still lethargic, but I believe constant treatment, nourishment, and antibiotics will help! I also found Hemeopathic remedies I am looking into one in particular is a "RABIES VACCINE DETOX" .. I gotta fight for him! He's even starting to groom himself again. I am just worried about his irregular breathing.. It's on & off. What can I do to help with that? Anyone know?

Also, does anyone know of some inexpensive ways to give your cat oxygen therapy at home?

I'm so happy to hear that he is responding a little more!  Yay for the litter box visit!
Praying that he continues to show steady improvement.  Have you given the steroids a go yet?  As far as the O2 treatment, I'm not sure on that one.

Any signs of improvement are hopeful here.

I just read through all the posts I missed and wow, it sure has been a nightmare!

If YOU are not well and not at your best, it will effect him too.

I hope he is getting the antibiotics he needs. These meds and keeping him hydrated are the best you can do, besides lots of love and positive thoughts.

Worrying yourself sick never changes the outcome, do the best you can do for him, it's all you can do. But keep yourself rested and in the present, let go of why and how, at least for now so you can focus and think clearly.

Don't worry about his poop either, he's not going to poop normal until his food intake improves.

You are in my thoughts.

Hi everyone! I am so very pleased and gratified to update you on my boys prognosis. First and foremost.. God be the glory for his recovery.. My faith and the many prayers prayed strong and hard were answered. I was directed by God to take matters into my own hands and out of the hands of the vets who weren't telling me anything and taking my hard earned money every chance they got. I will never trust another Vet again. The hard lesson here is, if you love your animal, then you MUST do the leg work.. Research online inside out their condition, possible cures, treatments etc. familiarize yourself with the options available, and go that route. The good news is homeopathic medicine is what did it! I ordered 3 products from Hampl homeopathics "Anemia Support", "Blood tonic", and "Liver detox". All applied topically. My boy went from not eating, responding to me, walking, using the potty... Back to normal more less eating lots, using the litter box, purring, playing, eyes wide open, blood circulating from his abdomen.. It is AMAZING what homeopathics have done for his condition!!! I am in awe! He is almost 100% back! It's only been three days and I can see drastic change. His paws are pink, gums are turning pink, lips and ears pink, eyes are wide open, it's a MIRACLE! He was sooo out of touch for so long! Even his breathing has improved! No need for oxygen anymore. I will say I do see a change in him though, over all.. And I am praying to God these are reversable once the Rabies detox and diaretics arrive today and he is started on them. His coat is much thinner, his over all body seems to have loss muscle tone, I can feel his bones a bit through his skin from his skull to his spine.. And that was never the case before. He is a big cat! 18lbs before.. But I am sure he has lost some weight. Now that he is eating for me, I'm hopeful that will turn around, as most of the other things already have. I will receive the Rabies vaccine detox today along with Dura Aid to assist with the fluid buildup in his abdominal area, so I am looking forward to starting him on that! His tummy looks much better, and his over all prognosis is nothing short of a MIRACLE!! My prayers are answered! God is amazing!! Just last Sunday, the Vet told me to put him down, and walked out of the room so I can consider it... Then Tuesday another Vet told me to consider putting him down. It's been a week! And I maximized my time (exhausting myself yes, but well worth it) to save his life! I am so grateful I worked at finding answers diligently when all of the vets told me there was little to no hope due to "finances"! They are insensitive money hungry blood sucking pigs. A thing of the past. I will forever lean on homeopathic meds for me and my animals (loved ones
included). And I hope I inspire people to do the same! This stuff WORKS MIRACLES like nothing else.

I'm so glad that he is doing better!  Please don't rule out all vets though.  I have had horrible experiences with them as well....more times than I'd care to count.  I have finally found an amazing feline only vet that love.

I too did the vet hopping thing with a chronically ill kitty, I know there are some very poor vets out there.  I did finally find a very good clinic which is also cats only.  It's unfortunate that it's like that but that is the way it is at least where I live.

@denice @missmew While I can appreciate what you're saying, I find the hunt for a good vet to be dreadful, because I don't want to take the chance of a vet harming my boy ever again, plus it's a complete WASTE of money to see a so called doctor who just looks you in the eyes and tells you nothing about your cats condition. Even with test in front of them that were hundreds of dollars to run, they have told me nothing.... I was able to do better myself! I went sympthom for sympthom one at a time.. And discovered how to treat him on my own. I asked each of those vets to give me some kind of recommendation for treatment either natural or traditional and they couldn't tell me anything. Only recommending treatments that needed to be done in the hospital so they can charge me an arm & a leg for them... Along with antibiotics, which only suppress the immune system. It's ridiculous. I would trust a Homeppathic vet, however, the one in my area charges 180$ an hour! It's just too much, I don't understand how these vets charge as much as they do! It's just not feesable to take your pet to receive care, it is over priced for simply so these vets can pay off their school loans. I even had one of the vets who seen him tell me that he has 250k in student loans he needs to pay off, and that he wishes he could treat him for less but he cannot. Bogus... It's all about money. They can care LESS if my pet lives or not. He was totally ready to euthanize my baby! And asked me to consider while he left the room! Imagine if I would've listened to him! I almost did!!! I didn't want my cat to suffer! But my mother was with me (Thank GOD!) and helped me rationalize, and today he is doing much better. Every day I see him take another step further. My nights are being restored in peace, and my mornings as well are antisapated.. Just to see that face glow in health is everything to me. I can sigh a relief today.

Is that a Banfield Pet Sign in the background where you got his rabies shot?  If ever there was a vet I've seen more complaints about it's Banfield.   Not that you'd go back there, but I'd stay away (and recommend that everyone else does too!)

Topically? Really? I would have thought these kind of formulas would be given orally in order to work from the inside out.

Nonetheless, I'm glad they're helping!

It is also possible he was already recovering on his own and the remedies you are trying aren't doing anything.

I've studied herbs extensively for a book I am writing. Herbs work just like drugs. Most herbs do not absorb through the skin. In fact some herbs aren't even able to be absorbed from the gi tract.

If his skin is infected which looks very possible given the fact he had bleeding there, topical products might be helpful if applied to his belly. Honey comes to mind.

Obviously he would need to wear an e collar as he would try to lick it off.

As for vets, I would not write them all off. It costs over $100,000 to go to vet school. Most students have to take out loans. Then to start their own practice. The cost of equipment is astronomical. An endoscope is about $20,000. An x ray machine is another $20,000. If they do blood work in house instead of sending it elsewhere, it is more money... If it costs $300,000 to open your own clinic you are talking about $400,000 that needs to be paid off plus interest.

Add liability insurance to that. Personal expenses from the years you are in school. A car to drive to work. Rent if you have an apartment. Mortgage if you have a house.

You can see why it is so expensive. That is a huge investment! And it will take years to pay it all off!

@sarahann Regardless of how costly the investment is... It doesn't give any of them the right to use someone else's GRIEF as a method to pay off their debts. They are to utilize their skills in order to do what is RIGHT for the animal, and MOST do not do that. After 5 different vets, all took my money, and did absolutely NOTHING for me. And my cat was NOT healing on his own, these Homeopathics are what did it. I am the one who has been watching him day in and day out and I know the process it's been. He wasn't eating, drinking, pooping or anything till I applied these meds on him, and yes they are very effective, the blend of ingrediants travel through the bloodstream to treat the underlining cause of his illness. That along with my strong faith in Jesus is what did it, and this cat is a miracle, NO doubt. These vets know nothing! They are a bunch of Crooks! The natural way is the way to go! I put milk thistle in his food, along with Liqui-tonic a Iron suppliment and I ditched the antibiotics they gave me, and look at him! A cat that 4 vets told me to PUT DOWN is ALIVE and well! They wouldn't believe it themselves. His tummy isn't infected, the blood needed to travel throughout the body, it is looking even better today with the Blood tonic, Dura aid, and liver tonic. I even started him on the rabies detox yesterday, I have to do this for the next 3 weeks just to un-do what those monsters did to him. My cats will never see another vet again. Let them make money off of those who don't know any better. I ordered a book on amazon about Homeopathy and healing your animals through natural alternatives, and I will stick with this & my faith. My story is a testimony, and I will use it to save many animals from the grip of these money hungry vets who don't give a damn. If you love your pet, you gotta educate yourself on what's going on with them, and put in the leg work to help them recover. And Bandfield should be Boycotted! They are rotten for doing this to my cat! It's been 6 days since I last spoke to Dr. Munoz and she has yet picked up the phone to see how my cat is doing, or to find out if he's even alive. She knew how crucial his situation was, she knew I was seeking answers and treatment after what they done, and she doesn't even have the decency to find out the outcome. I'll tell you why, she thinks by now my cat is dead, and is dreading having to confront me. Well sooner than later someone will have to, my concern right now is taking care of him, giving him his homeopathics and making sure he recovers. I can't believe how pink his gums and paws are after this Medicine, it's insane! I doubted the effectiveness of it as well, till I knew faith in it was all I had left, so I applied it religiously till I seem a difference as the bottle says... And I did within a full day. It was a miracle! His gums were sooooo pale, so were his lips, ears, and paws, and NO ONE can take from me what my eyes began to see... I saw little by little the turning of these areas from pale to pink just hours later. I even saw his breathing improve, due to the aid in oxygen flow from the Anemia Support Drops... And my cat loves the fact that I don't have to force them down his throat. It's better for the cat topically, it's less stress, and Lord knows he has already had so much of that as it is. He is getting plenty of rest and lots of my LOVE[emoji]10084[/emoji][emoji]10024[/emoji] that in conjunction with faith and homeopathic meds is healing my baby! Hampl is an amazing company, and I will refer many people to them, cause they saved my babies life! Don't hesitate if your cat is sick to search their sympthom on their site, and call for a recommendation. Those ladies are so helpful, and you will get your order in two days. It's been such a blessing! [emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji][emoji]10024[/emoji][emoji]128124[/emoji]
