I have a kitten that we rescued off a street about a month ago, He still seems to very young i would say around 7-8 weeks. How ever his teeth are still coming in. Since his gums were hurting we gave him cow milk (very little, 3 times) now after a day he is not active and laying around. He is usually very active. He is still going potty and he drank some water as well as ate a little (not as much as normal). Now knowing that cow milk is NOT good for my poor baby.

My question is him not feeling good due to the cow milk? Is there something I can due to help?

Thank you!!

Most cats are lactose imtolerant and this could very well cause an upset stomach. You can get some KMR (milk specifically for kittens) from the store and feed him that instead. You can also water down his wet food or mix it with the KMR seeing as he is still quite young, if that helps with his teething issues.

But I don't believe this should last for too long, if it was due to the cow milk. Has he come good now??

Goat's milk agrees with them and you can get it in the dairy department of most supermarkets, even at Walmart (at least around here).  He's old enough to eat wet food.  If you feed him any kibble, wet it a little and let it get soft first.

I want to add,  cow milk may cause diarrhea.  that is that danger.  It wouldnt probably not case him laying down in sickbed so to speak.  Even if "upsetting the stomach" can surely have different variations.

So, unless its his day off, where he rests a little extra - he has really another problem than this cow milk.

Be watchful, and be prepared to visit your vet.  Or at least phone if your vet gives advices on telephone.  Some do, some not.

Otherwise I agree with the above posters.

Good luck!

He is moving a little more still not as active as normal if he is not back to normal tomorrow I will be taking him into the vet. Just worried since he is so little there won't be much for them to do. Only thing that is scaring me is he does not have diarrhea nor has he vomited so I'm not sure if it is the milk.

Thank you all for your words of help!!

Evrn though he is little, there is still lots that can be done! Its just that young kittens are so fragile and you must work quickly. Some vets are not great with young kittems but they can provide life saving treatment we don't have access to. Intravenous fluids, oxygen, medications etc. Don't delay in taking him if he is going downhill. I hope he gets better soon.
