Basically, due to health reasons it has been suggested that I begin misting certain essential oils as a way to purify the environment. Well, one of the things I researched before getting furry companions was essential oils and learned that they can be quite toxic to cats, so I made sure that they did not come into contact with any during my use.

But now, misting it may be helpful for my health. Obviously this will put it into the air where it will wind up being inhaled, and obviously the entire amount in the mister will be put into my home environment.

So I give up on this pathway because of the cats? Only use the mister in one room and limit their exposure (only allowed in when mister is done?).

Regretfully the illness is a multi-faceted complex one and anything that may help I grasp onto - but in this case the cats will come first.

If you have central heat and a/c, more mist will get into the whole house than you might think. If you can, use one room only for misting and keep the cats out completely. I would be glad to help you further. I can be reached by PM.

I had to stop using my essential oil diffuser because it was negatively affecting my cats' and their health.  Essential oils generally aren't a good idea around cats, but I use them when I clean and have no bad experiences with them.  I also use them on myself and the cats don't suffer.
