I am taking care of them outside because there is no room in my apartment. The kittens are 9 days old.The mama cat is nursing them on my porch. What should I use to put over the concrete? They can hurt themselves scooting on the ground.I put a towel down but forgot about all the specks of poop.Is newspaper ok?

Adorable!  Thank you for helping them.

Newspaper is good - but you can maybe get some straw.   Either way, change it out often.  Sounds like mom is accepting of your help, which is wonderful.

You have at least one female kitten - the calico.  Do you know what the others are?

No,I do not.As soon as I put them on Craig's list I got 12 replies one after the other so I wrote all the names down to narrow the list. Some were willing to take them all including the mom but not foster them. With so many replies I thought it would be fair for more than 1 person to adopt  them. Many want the calico but I can't split him/her in 3's  so I guess I'll draw straws. Some want more than one but so far 3 people for sure want one when their ready to be separated.I would like to have someone take care of them til they can be adopted but how do I know they won't keep them.So now I have to decide who gets what and how many.I took them off Craig's list and sent them all a letter:How's the letter?

This is getting difficult for me to decide.12 replies in 15 minutes! Don't forget-not til they can be weened.I was/am going to take it off Craig's list but I was getting one reply after another. We'll see what happens in 5 weeks.I know from past that people can change their mind-discover allergic to cats, move, get sick, disagreement with spouse, etc.

thanks everyone! I will keep in touch

A couple of observations. First, beware of Craig's list. There are some people on there who want the kittens to train fighting dogs to kill. Also, some are from places that want to use them for experiments. Use your best judgement and ask for a small payment.

Secondly, the kittens should stay with their mother until they are 10-12 weeks old. That way they get all the things that Mama has to teach them.

Good for you, for caring for mom cat and her kittens. To get the babies off the concrete how about a plastic storage box. Cut one short side down somewhat so mom cat can easily hop in and out but babies are confined. Line it with old towels that you can swap in and out as necessary, washing the dirty set for the next change-over. If the porch is roofed over then you might not even need the lid for the storage container.

She looks very sweet and the babies are adorable! Looking forward to updates as they grow and develop.

Actually, you might want to follow through with the person wo wanted to take the mom and the babies and see if they are a reputable rescuer (get references and the name of their vet).  That would certainly be best for them, get them inside and properly cared for.  Also, @catspaw66 is correct, unless you are giving them to a rescuer, NEVER give them away free.  Overheard in a pet store, a guy was there with a huge snake and someone said "What do you feed that guy?" and he responded "Rats, when I can't get free kittens."  Always charge at least what it would cost to buy a rat, which is $10 or more.  Be very, very careful.  Find out who they are, what they do, if they have other animals or have had cats in the past and if yes, then what happened to those cats.  I am glad you took them off Craig's list.  Try to find a local rescue group to coach you, even if they can't take them in.  They might have a foster home for the whole family and perhaps YOU can be the foster and they can help with vaccinations, worming, flea protection, etc.  Don't worry about being fair to people on Craig's list.  Worry about finding the best homes for the kittens and mama cat.

There is no rescue group I can take them to.I have called everyone and they're full.I cannot take them in because I have no room-apartment with 3 cats.I did follow through with the people that said they would take them all and found out they were not part of a rescue group.I have chosen a few that seem honest. They were excited to take them in and emailed me back and forth. One lady sent me pics of her cat that died.As soon as the kittens are gone I will pay $45 to get TNR done. She is a beautiful cat so I am hoping someone will take her.

That is an excellent idea. The place she chose to nurse them is behind my bin outside so there's not much room but I will experiment.I have to remember to tell the gardeners not to use their blower thurs.

I brought in a kitten found in a hole 5 weeks old.She is now 2.I had no trouble raising her.I will decide  when they are ready to be weened(if they can eat out of a can).I know some of the kittens are reproducing slower than others.

Peaches is a beautiful dilute calico. If you have people you trust, by all means let them adopt the kittens. I just wanted to make sure you know there are some bad people out there.

I want to add, if it feels awkward to ask for payment - be it netto payment or refound for  spaying - you can ask for an donation in the cats name... So they donate to a cause they choose / agree on, but NOT in their own name.

Its always legitimate to ask for refound for spaying.  It will scare off jerks, and the legitimate will accepts this gladely.

This is the easiest way to do some screening of  jerks and the probably honest.

If you got 15 anwers in 10 minutes, its at least half of them were jerks and villains.   There simply cant be a so big demand for kittens, no way.  I dont believe this.

Even if there would be some especial situation making several of them are legitime.

-  and yes, I do see they are beautiful, both momma and the kittens.

Good luck!
