I need help!?

My baby just had FBOperation, he was given oral syringes of buprenorphine, 0.2mg to take home.

The vet instructed me to keep it in its blackout bag in the fridge. Being a paranoid crazy cat lady I like to affirm everything I'm told on petmd. once I looked online it clearly stated to not refrigerate this drug because it may affect it's ability to work fully.I'm very conflicted as to what I'm to do... I don't want my cat to feel the major pains of surgery, I'm not sure weather the doctor made a mistake or not, because I do understand they're only human!!

What to do?

How about calling your vet's office, telling them what you found out online, and asking for clarification?

I agree, call your vet.
I use Buprenorphine regularly with rescue kitties and my own and have never been told to refridgerate it. However, your med may have been compounded differently?

I work for a vet and have never heard Buprenorphine has to be stored in the fridge.  The only thing I can think of is if they mixed it with something else that needed to be refridgerated.

Oh no. I have this same medicine in a compound. I got it from a pharmacy in Arizona . I am not refrigerating it.My REMY  is having all his teeth removed on Tuesday morning. Since he is impossible to give meds to I got a compound. I have had it before and in my memory it was not supposed to go in the fridge. I guess I threw out the packaging. I am calling the pharmacy in the morning but if it was supposed to go in the fridge I am in trouble.

That's a really good decision on your part, it's always best to confirm.

I spoke with the pharmacist this morning. He said the buprenorphine should not be in the fridge. He said refrigerating it makes it ineffectual.I am using the transdermal Bup. so I can rub in in Remy's ear. I have had the oral and I remember that said not to put it in the fridge but out of direct light.

Yes, I guess US compounds it differently. I'm glad you got it all figured out. How did it go for Remy?
