Hi Girls & Boys.

A few days ago I kind of got chosen by a stray kitty. She now lives permanently inside with me... She has a vet appointment tomorrow as I suspect she has cat flu, I am more worried that her nipples are quite large but still white? The guy that was previously feeding her said she was outside for three weeks & then she went missing for fourteen days until she climbed through my window ! She is a very dainty skinny cat, I am unable to see any bumps but nipples are large but white.

Any input would be very much appreciated

Nothing to think much about.  If unspayed, she is almost surely pregnat.  White or raspberry nipples.

The question is  is a spaying now asap, including abortion, possible for you?   Or if you DO want her kittens delivered and raised...

Good luck!  @michaelaclaire

If she has nursed kittens in the past, that will leave her nipples looking different than those of a cat who never had kittens. I can't tell much from the pictures, but that may be what you're seeing. Of course, as she was outdoors, if she is not spayed there's a good chance she's also pregnant anyway.

Just got home from vets, She has severe cat flu with a temp (already suspected this) vet couldn't feel any babies but also did not look at nipples when I asked her too (vet wasn't the friendliest of people). She is now on antibiotics & eye drops, Vet has suggested leaving her spay for up to three weeks while she recovers from this, She will also need flea + worm treatment in the next few days! She is underweight as well so I am trying to fatten her up.. I am still VERY worried as I actually don't look at cat nipples haha but these do seem particularly big to me (I got told by the pound they suspected she was pregnant due to the nipples as well).. She is eating a lot more now & also sleeping but no weight gain in the tummy from what I can see. By my calculations if she was pregnant she would be between 20-30 days (there was a big time frame uncounted for).

Does anyone have any pictures of normal cat nipples & pregnant ones for comparison? Cannot find any online too compare.

I do agree with the vet, if she has this flu, and shall be vaccinated and dewormed, a spaying now is a bad idea.  It must be taken stepwise.

A similiar situation may be with a founded starved highly malnutritied cat. "emaciated".   she must land and be stabilized first, before such major surgery as spaying is.  Especielly if there is deworming and vaccination involved.

IF she is pregnant, you will take your decision later.

Late abortions arent nice, but here we do have one big difference with humans:  a premature human baby at 6+ months will usually survive if taken care for.  Even at 5+ in a really first class neonatal compartment.

But kittens manage badly premature deliveries.  More than 3 days too early hardly any chance - even if the owner fights on skillfully.

So with kittens, quite late spaying isnt as grossly as it sounds.

Good luck!
