Do your cats like to follow you into the bathroom?

Just curious if my kittens grow out of this phase or if its a common cat thing and I will now have bathroom buddies for life. I could easily close the door right away if I wanted them out, but they are too adorable and entertaining to resist.

It never fails. If I am in the restroom for more than 30 seconds then they come running to investigate. They will literally wake from a dead sleep to follow me in. It was pretty funny to watch two kittens running toward me with their eyes closed because they hadn't fully woken up.

That sounds cute and adorable!
Ritz (female, round 5 years old) doesn't follow me into the bathroom, but if I close the door, she waits outside, sometimes meowing. She does the same thing with my (twin) sister (who doesn't live with me). I think it's a curiosity action.
BTW/TMI: once or twice she has smelled my human litter box and gets a pained expression on her face.

Cats and bathrooms... what can I say...

My two insist on coming in, no matter what I'm doing in there.

lol that must be because of the closed door. Closed doors are like hiding a secret treasure. As for TMI, my kitten Lily will pee when I pee since one of her litter boxes is in there too. She is weird. I never thought that could become a group event.

Cats must love bathrooms, but only when we are in them apparently.

Hehe Sounds like he is showing the new guy the ropes. Mine love to play near the bathroom door as well. They have shut themselves in the bathroom together several times because they were playing the paw game under the door.

Mo doesn't usually, but once he realizes we've left him alone and shut him out of the room(s) we're in (doesn't have to be the bathroom), he yowls and yowls out in the hall.

Kismet loves the bathroom because it was the first room she went into once she left the safe room, and it was a smaller and more confined room that Mo doesn't go into very often. Now she just associates the bathroom with belly rubs and lots of praise and pets, since we encouraged her to explore the other rooms a lot when we brought her home. The bathroom is now the only place she has me all to herself, even if I'm brushing my teeth or something and not even petting her or paying much attention to her, and it's where she purrs the most and the loudest. Sometimes she'll lead us into the bathroom and flop down on the bath mat as if to say "belly rubs please".

Yes! Always goes in and will lay on floor or sit in/around the sink. Frustrating because I like to close door to keep warm during shower but she doesn't mind. She also likes to play with the running water and used to drink out if it before she got more wet food in diet.

Torture, pure torture, when my cat follows me into the bathroom, which is nearly every time.  He knows I am pretty much a captive audience, and takes complete advantage of this He will stand up against my leg, begging for MORE pets, or wrap himself around my leg.  I HATE, hate, hate that - especially when you have black pants on.  He does it even more then!  The totally cute thing he does is sit there, very prim and proper, and lifts his paw and taps my leg for me to pet him... How do you resist that - it is so cute and polite!

So cute, I would not be able to shut her out!

Four of my cats have taken advantage of 'occupied' human in bathroom with faulty, non-latching door... I won't go into detail but I am amazed they would want to sit on your lap at certain times.  But they did.  It's difficult when they fall asleep like that.

Rocco (2.5 years old) loves to hang in the toilet when Im in there and likes to watch the water when I press the flush.

My girlfriend goes to the bathroom every morning and her cat gets in the litter next to her and they go to the toilet at the same time!! Every morning!!

Such characters!!!

Both our boys immediately come into the bathroom whether you are brushing your teeth - when one or both will stand on the toilet with their paws on the counter watching.  Or when you actually use the restroom - one or both will be on the back of the toilet, in your lap, or sit on their litterbox staring at you
They are 2yrs old and 1yr old.

YES! Haha I have 3 sometimes 4 in the bathroom with me at all times.
For one, it doesn't even matter if he is sleeping, he will wake up, follow me into the bathroom and just plop down into a slumber.
I have the the funniest picture of myself sitting there (peeing) with my cat's head peeking up through my underware. Haha sounds weirder than it is, I sent it to my mom and she thought it was hilarious :) me too! Love my kitties :)

Ah yes, every single time! The bathroom has been interesting since the first time they were in there. Running water, by the way, is always interesting. Not only in the bathroom, but the kitchen as well.
Oh and of course they also love drinking from the tap. Sometimes they will sit on the bath, staring at the tap, willing me to let it drip. :)

My Oliver does this too - he follows a couple seconds after me, does a walk-by and rubs his tail against me, and leaves. I call it a "drive-by tailing."

We brought our 3 Y.O. Maine coon home yesterday. We have a bathroom suite in our master bedroom, so the bathroom is part of his safety zone. Any time one of us goes to the bathroom for any reason, he follows. We usually get a rub to say hello, and then he investigates the bathroom until we leave.
