at peace

After a 3 week battle of chylothorax, we had a wonderful business called "Happy Endings" come to the house to put our sweet Minnie to rest. The vet was amazing... wanted to see her records and discuss her condition...and when he read them, he shook his had and said he was so sorry but also reassured us we were making the right decision. That meant SO much to us. I held her as she was sedated, then placed her on a blanket and petted her as they administered the final dose. It was sooo peaceful. Her littermate and sister came up to her and licked her head when it was over. Talk about tears, but I couldn't have imagined it being a more perfect way to go. If only all passings in life were this peaceful. This picture was taken as we were waiting for the vet to arrive...we saw a lizard and a hummingbird

Very sorry for your loss. I'm glad you had the perfect farewell. It brought tears to my eyes for many reasons.

thank you so much. It's a very sad void.. but lined in peace. The vet gave me a piece of her fur that he shaved off her leg and I can't tell you how many times I've felt that fur, and smelled her just for comfort. I told her the night before...that she is gonna have to "poke Jesus in the nose" when she wants her nighttime feeding now

I'm so happy to hear of peaceful endings, so often they are not. And for Minnie to have those she loved surrounding her and loving her so much meant the world to her, I'm sure. Please accept my condolences for your loss, the heavens gained a beautiful angel when Minnie went to them. Remember that sweet Minnie would never want you to be so sad when you remember her, but celebrate the love you shared. Try not to dwell on your loss and give extra love and attention to her sister who I'm sure misses her too.Thank you for sharing your story and giving us hope for peaceful endings.
