I finally have a working computer back up again. The Nook Color was not bad for reading posts, but was a pain to write on.

Thanks to my brother, for pulling the computer out of a trash pile and for buying me XP to put on it.

Welcome back!  XP is great.  I have it on my older PC but there's not enough RAM on that to go online anymore -- todays web pages are memory hogs, and the whole computer only has 1 Gig of memory.  Hope yours has more.

Actually, I only have 768MB of ram (maximum for model) but it only shows 704MB. The problem is one chip dead on my 512MB ram stick.

I have been using XP for many years, and am satisfied with it. When I can afford a new computer (did you see that pig fly by?) I will go to a newer OS. Until then, I use Alley brand.

It must feel so good to be back!!  Typing on the kindle fire is a pain and I try to avoid it.  I end up having to change every other word or more!  Although now that i have a smartphone; I find it easier to type on the kindle than the phone!  The kindle has where you swipe/drag and it puts in the word and then just tapping on it brings up options if it isn't the right word.  My phone doesn't (that I have found).  I do manage to do notes at church on it; but that's easier than replying to posts!

For most tablets, you can get a bluetooth keyboard.  Some are better than others, of course.  They also work with smart phones.

I think RAM is cheap these days so maybe you could get a new stick, wouldnt add a lot but might help.
Well, you supplied the pig, I must say. Had to put any extra into Silly this month. $180 in three weeks.
