Hi,

Can you believe we're a week into September already? This year has gone SOOOOOO fast. Christmas is coming and both of my nephews have birthdays soon. I'm going to have to get shopping.

The youngest is only one, so he's easy to shop for. The older boy is going to be six, so I thought I'd get some copies of my favourite childhood books for him. I loved stories when I was a kid.

How about you?

What was your favourite book when you were little?

I used to read a lot, but my all time favourite was The Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl.

I love the way Mr Fox always outsmarted those mean farmers.

I LOVE children's books!!  My favorite was Goodnight Moon.  There was also one called Busy Day, Busy People that I liked for bedtime when i was small.  My mother liked one called Golden Mountain or something like that that she always tried to read to me. I'm pretty sure I still have my books in a box.

My children have SO MANY books.  It's so easy to find super cute books to read to them now.  My DD has a subscription to High5; which is a younger kids version of Highlights.  My parents have bought that for her for Christmas the last 2 years.  She loves them!

I have been reading since I was 4 so I have a lot of faves. I loved the Nancy Drew series (still have a lot of them that DH bought for me), I also loved Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, no Good Very Bad Day but my all time favorite is The Velveteen Rabbit.

I am an avid book reader and have probably been reading since 4 or 5. I can remember reading our set of encyclopedias, just because. I used to come home from the first day of Lit class and read my lit books that night. I've always loved to read.

My favorite book was the original Alice in Wonderland that my mother owned. I have no idea what ever happened to it.

Kay0121, we bought Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day for our son and it became one of his favorites, too.

All the Madeline books by Ludwig Bemelmans.  I read those over and over. Loved her adventures, the artwork was great and the rhyming was musical to read out loud or to yourself. The whole concept was so foreign to me, since they take place in a convent boarding  school in Paris.  Being Jewish, this was incredibly interesting to me.  All of the books featured unusual characters (to me at least!) and I loved her adventures. Plus she was the smallest in her class, which I always was also

Hmm... I'm not sure. Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is Poky Little Puppy. I also remember having a childrens book that had pictures of all sorts of animals. Told you what they were, where they lived, etc. That was probably my favorite.

I wish I had that book for my sons.

Runaway Ralph and also The Mouse and the Motorcycle. I loved most Beverly Cleary books, especially the books featuring Ramon Quimby.

My favorites were Grimm's Fairy Tales and the Andrew Lang Fairy Books (we owned the red one). I read every fairy tale book in the libraries, too. It seems the stories always had a regular person who was struggling against terrible people, and making it out okay in the end. Some of those fairy tales are really scary, but not too bad compared to my childhood. I could relate to the scenarios, they gave me strength, and I liked the endings - PUSH that wicked witch INTO the oven, YEAH!

I was a fan of Clifford and Berenstain Bears, but as I got older, I liked Goosebumps as well. My brother got me a whole book of Dr. Seuss stories, which I have since given to my little nephew. I hope he loves them as much as I do! I still distinctly remember being read Cinderella by my dad for bedtime stories, so the bippity-boppity-boo has a soft spot in my heart.

My favorite book as a child was  Tracy, Tacy and Tib.  I also loved  Grimm Fairy Tales.  My favorite comic book as a child was Little Lu Lu, anybody remember that comic book.

As a teenager and young adult, I read a lot of those Romance Magazines.

I have always loved to read, I've read that no matter what you read, you will always learn something.  Now of course I'm into the novels, read just about every day.

I loved my ValueTales.  They told about real people and positive characteristics like humor, determination, etc.

I don't remember. Being british i obviously read different books. I read Enid Blyton staring from Noddy and up.
I really don't remember much those days
I do know I haunted the library. I go nowhere without a book.
I hate Alice in wonderland
and brothers grimm.
