Pretty much what it says in the title. A wooden ladder fell over my cat while we were sleeping. The poor fella has been crying a lot since that moment, hiding in corner, he pooped himself on his first hiding point, and now just stays there, making really loud noises from time to time. While he didn't react badly to my petting, my dad said that he may have hurt his neck. I live just in front of a vet, but he won't be here for another couple of hours. He seems to walk just fine, but it may be a column problem. What should I do?

Hi-please call an er vet if your vet doesn't have an after hours message/service. DO NOT let him eat or drink, because not only of a possible concussion but because of tests that might have to be run. If you have to call your fire dept for advice.

He needs to see a vet. Do you have an emergency vet in your area? How long until the vet across the street opens? He sounds like he is in pain, he needs medical attention ASAP.

I wanted to answer you quickly because of the eating, but I have to log off now. The loose bowels are REALLY not good at all, and it sounds like he is in tremendous pain. Please get him seen ASAP.

The no food or water is also because if they need to operate on him then he needs to be free of food for 12 hours but last water cold be more recent. So sorry to here and sending light to you and your four-legged one.

Thanks for the kind words and for the tips. Silvester, that's his name, is now sleeping in my mom's bedroom, thanks to some medication for the pain, and waiting for the vet to check on him again. None of his bones are broken, but he seems to have an inflammation on the brain, or that's what the vet suggested, because he can't walk correctly, and for windows of time, seems to lose control of one of his legs. At this point, it could go either way, he could get better, or not. But the fatty at least recognises us from time to time, and knows we are there for him.
