So far out in left field I got lost
The Sammycat has been biting his bowl when he eats. I was concerned that there is something wrong with his teeth so I took him to the vet. He said that The Sammycat's teeth and mouth alltogether is just fine and has no clue as to why he bites his dish when eating.

Is there a way to get him to stop this? I have a ceramic bowl for him and am very afraid that over time he will wear out or break his teeth. The vet had no suggestions on how to get him to stop eating like this.

Hmm- I think I would try and rub a tiny bit of lemon juice on the outside edge of the bowl- not a lot (use a qtip) because to much and he may stop eating because of the smell.

I would also go to the store and look for rawhide flips make sure they are made in America though- and give him one of those during the day to chew. The rawhides made overseas oftentimes, are made from dog and cat hides-
The ones here in America are cow hides.

Thanks for the replies. I replaced the bowl about 6 months ago to this one, he bite his other dish also. I will try the rawhide flips and the lemon juice. Thanks for the suggestions, as I am concerned about his teeth. Sammycat is a nut anyway but I love
: him to death!

Well I tried the lemon juice this morning, it didn't seem to help much. Maybe if I add a little more to the edge of the bowl would that work? I don't want the Sammycat to starve or push Oscar out of his bowl in order to eat.

If both Sammycat and Oscar eat from the same dish, maybe he needs a dish for himself. I know that dogs can be food aggressive, maybe cats can be, too.

Sammycat and Oscar have seperate bowls. I did notice that the Sammycat tried to push Oscar away form his bowl this morning. So I gentle pushed him back to his own bowl. Hopefully with enough time and lemon juice he will quit biting the side of his dish when he eats

you could try a bowl like this:

it is non-tippable and probably non-bitable too
