Our kitten Oreo has just turned 1 years old. He was being sick and having runny stools but still playful. We took him to the vets and they said he's just got an inflamed tummy and gave us special food and anti sickness tabs and anti biotics which were good anti inflaments

He was doing great until we put him back on his original diet of dry food and wet food in the evenings

We took him back and they put him on steroids for the week with the special food again. He ate the special food for a few days and then stopped eating. We then thought well let's try him on adult food. Hes not been sick and his stools are fine he eats well but he's very lazy now and just lies around

Maybe he's just losing his fun kitten side and at the same time he's just under the weather

Note he's not been dehydrated at any point and he's very loving

He may be losing his kitten side--or the food may not agree with him.
What is the food you are now feeding him? What was the special food?

Update!

So he was being sick again so we took him to the vets they said he had lost more weight and they are now trying "sensitive food" . The other special food was "gastro intestinal" food. He wont eat it anymore he starts eating it and then just stops and he's not sick. But he will eat all of his normal wet food and be sick on it.

He's on anti biotics and anti sickness again as before he was showing improvment on them so hopefully for a longer course he will get better. But we need to speak to the vet about his lack of eating

Any ideas? We are determined its diet. His stools are not too hard or soft now but there are very little I'm guessing due to lack of food intake. He is still very loving and is jumping around they said he's not in pain

He has a follow up on Monday

How about an appetite enhancement--I believe it is a shot of some sort.
Or you could try putting 'toppers' on his food, like parmasean cheese or Bonito flakes. Amazon sells them pretty cheaply as do international supermarkets (used in Phillipino cooking a lot).

I think you are correct in that his issues are definitely with food.  Many, many cats have digestive issues that are related to food.

What EXACTLY are/were you feeding him, both when he does well and when he doesn't?  Brand/type?

So as a kitten. It was Purina dry biscuits to nibble on while at work and then Felix kitten wet pouches in the evening. He was ok for ages and then gradually ate less .

Then it was royal canin gastro intestinal and he ate it for a while and then stopped after the anti biotics course had done

I then tried Felix adult pouches and he just threw it up but gulped it all down and just stayed on wet and not hard.

Changed it to whiskers and he could only hold down a teaspoons worth

Now we have resorted to boiled chicken breast from the local shop. He has kept a handful down for a few hours I just want to build his strength up

OK, you can actually make his food, if you want, but you will need to make sure it's nutritionally balanced.  He can eat just boiled chicken for only a few days, as it is NOT nutritionally balanced.  Here is a thread to help you in how to make homemade meals:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/264153/home-cooked-cat-food-resources

From the cat brands you are feeding, I believe you are in Europe?  I am not familiar with those, and when I try to look them up, I cannot find a list of their ingredients.  Do they have grains in them?  Corn, wheat gluten, soy maybe?  Those can cause issues with some cats.  Also, you said he "gulped down" the Felix.  Eating too much, too fast can cause vomiting.  Normally when that happens they will throw up almost immediately after eating.  Is that what's happening with the Felix?

You might need to try feeding smaller portions more frequently and see if that helps, or you might need to feed something else (probably).  Royal Canin makes hypoallergenic selected protein food (in a couple of different proteins) that you could try.  I believe you need a prescription from your Vet to get this, but it may come down to this.  I'm not sure what else is available in Europe, but there may be other manufacturers that make limited ingredient foods.  Nature's Variety does here in the U.S.  Do you know if they sell over where you are?  OR, you just may need to find food that contain NO grains at all, and possibly no carrageenan.  Again, I know brands here in the U.S. that fit that category, but am not all that familiar with them in Europe.  @jcat lives in Germany and has a cat with special dietary needs, so maybe she can help.

Thanks. I will looking into it

Yes I'm based in the UK.

Vet said feed him anything that we can and the main goal is just to stop the vomiting I'm sure the vet will decide what's next

But he seems pretty good now. Hes been chasing a laser pen. And is now jumping around.

OMG, he looks just like my Bashful (from a long time ago), with that little beret on his head
.  Adorable

I agree that he needs to just eat,  but it needs to be nutritious at the same time.  So glad he seems to be feeling better
