I had applied for a Care Coordinator (supervisor) job at a nursing home.

I'm currently working in an outpatient clinic and have been for the past 5 year.  Prior to that I worked in a hospital looking after all kinds of patients on the wards, including geriatric patients who were waiting to go into nursing homes.

I had 2 interviews at a nursing home. I really felt that things went well and that I nailed the job.

I sent an eMail to the Director after the 2nd interview. She sent me a return eMail stating that while my interviews went really well, they are looking for someone with more recent geriatric nursing experience.

I see the position is reposted.

How can I turn this around? I feel that I am more than qualified for this job.

I want to send another email and ask to be reconsidered for the job, but I don't want to blow it!  So can someone help me with the right wording for this?

Generally in my experience, sadly, when told you or someone is told that aren't right for the job, that's it they've moved on and there is no turning it around.  However, the one thing you can't argue with is what they state they are looking for, "geriatric nursing experience" if you have more than they think you do, then you could politely explain that you do have more experience in this area.  If you do not, then I would say that your next best argument is to explain why it doesn't really matter and that the experience that you do have is really what they need....but that is going down a path that probably won't fly.

Sometimes you are given an official reason for not being hired, but in reality there are other factors involved. The best thing you can do is ask for some details why you weren't hired, explaining that you would like to know for the future.

When an ad stays posted but you are told no after you apply, it means they are looking for something specific to be brought to the job. If they didn't think you have it, they aren't going to change their minds.  Even though the position might seem ideal, the people hiring are the ones who really know if it is good fit or not.. Cheer up, though, you don't want to work with people who do not appreciate your experience and skills anyway, and if you got this job, you would miss out on that great one you are going to land in the future.

For whatever reason, the harder I work to get my foot in the door, those jobs ended up being my worst employments.  It's completely changed how I go at jobs now, and it's worked out for the better.
