Hello, new member here!
My wife and I have 22 year old Himalayan cat named Fritz. At this age certain health issues have come up- arthritis (manageable), failing eyesight and a soft diet due to missing teeth, but all in all he's pretty happy and well adjusted.
The problem is, despite being a furry garbage disposal he is soooo skinny. He eats everything we give him (wet food, fresh meats, rice, eggs, etc) and can really pack it in, but he only weighs 5 pounds. When I pet him i can literally feel every vertabrae in his spine IN DETAIL. It's hard to tell with all that long fur but when I give him a bath and the water slicks it down he looks pathetic.
I know everyone will say "vet" but we are on a very fixed income and veterinary help for low income families is sparse and unreliable. Does anyone have any thoughts? Should I be worried? What steps can I take?
