A First Time Cat Owner!

Hi everyone, 

I am a new cat owner; I got my first ever cat on the 24th August. I'm 17, and loved cats all my life, but my mother didn't. She didn't used to like them but I managed to work some magic and by some miracle I was allowed my cat!

I got my cat from Cats Protection, specifically the one where I volunteer. His name is Nigel, and he is 5. We have the same birth month! He was in Cats Protection because his owner sadly passed away. Nigel was initially very scared around my family, refusing to eat. A few days later, he became more confident, and now he always wants attention (and food)!

I love all kinds of feline, but the domestic cat is easily my favourite. My favourite big cat is the lion. I've always been a cat person because I have a fear of dogs and cats were like the polar opposite!

Anyway, that's enough from me. I'm going to check out some other threads now.

Welcome to The Cat Site. Ritz (female) is my first cat ever, adopted (rescued) five years ago when she was about four to six months old. She looks like your Nigel.
Feel free to ask lots of questions in the appropriate forum (you get more answers that way). I know I did and got lots of help from TCS.

Nigel is lovely, great name too.

The Cat's Protection League are a wonderful organisation. I grew up in the UK and quite a few of the cats we had when we were kids came from there. I was lucky enough to have cat loving parents so I've been around cats since I was a baby.

I'm looking forward to hearing lots more about Nigel.

It happened to me too when I was your age, because of my allergies I couldn't have a cat and I always wanted one!
Nigel is so handsome!

Our cat was scared when we first got him, too, but it didn't take long at all for him to warm up. Very cute cat!
