10/28/13 I adopted Trinity from a rescue that shows their cats at Pet Smart. They estimated her to be 9 m/o. She had kittens a few months earlier and she was spayed and her ear was notched. So she must have been  a TNR. I have her and her kittens vet records and they were cared for through a feral fund. She was at some point put into a foster home despite only having kittens a few months earlier and having a notched ear. I know this because I talked to the foster mom in person the day I adopted her. I remember asking about the timing of all this and why she was TNR and a foster cat . But the rescue staff was very vague in her answer stating something like her kittens have all found their forever homes so now it's her turn. Basically she didn't explain to me Trinity's TNR/foster. She just wanted to make sure I was ok with her notched ear .

But what I am getting at Pepster3D is from the time I took Trinity home she has been friendly. She has never had any desire to go outdoors. I think only a couple times she stepped outside as I was coming in or to follow me out but she turns around and comes right back in.I had to take her to the vet a few months after adopting her for a UTI and she was friendly there as well. The vet said you got yourself a winner.

I am  thinking your cat is a stray  like Trinity was. Not feral. Maybe the only difference between the two cats is that possibly your cat was a stray for a longer time frame than Trinity was and in that time became more skittish of people. Where as Trinity was only 9  m/o when I adopted her (she was a  baby having babies at approximately 6 or 7 m/o) . It sounds like there is definitely a chance that your Momma cat will settle down and enjoy being indoors. I think Trinity is grateful to be indoors and to have a home and doesn't miss the outdoors at all. Kinda  like been there done that and not going back!

What did you name Momma cat?

Here Is the Momma cat.  Her name is "Binx" (Named after a super hero cat from a comic book) She's thought to be about 3 years old according to the vet.

  • CalTriTwiAmb4  we would have kept all 4 cats but my husband is extremely allergic which is why they're at a foster home now, and not in our house.  We grew so attached to them though and wished we could keep them ourselves.  Especially "Binx"!  My Mom is interested in taking her if she can be socialized but the claws are an issue, and I know how bad it is to have a cat declawed.  :-(  Ugh.

Well done you!!

I think it's really likely that Mother Cat once had a home, so hopefully she will settle again over time.

The kittens are gorgeous.

Thank you! They are beautiful cats. The kittens love to cuddle. Hoping we can find homes for them very soon since now they're not looking much like kittens anymore.

An update-We had the mom cat spayed a few weeks ago and my friend (foster mom to the kittens) has been keeping her in her apartment.  I visited her last week and was finally able to touch her through the crate. I was excited after never being able to touch her when she lived outside.  She only allowed this for a few minutes and then started hissing at me again and backed away. She was in a large crate for a couple of weeks because she kept stress peeing.  She finally stopped and was allowed to come out of the crate.  She was in the bathroom for about 6 hours, and then finally came out and hid behind the sofa for a few days.  She finally came out today.  She was sitting in the hallway watching my friend playing a video game.  I was happy that she finally wandered out from behind the sofa.  She's taking tiny baby steps but I hope she keeps progressing.  I don't have the heart to release her back outside if she can show some progress indoors.
