After having a biopsy done it turns out my cat has metastatic liver cancer. His liver is cancerous throughout, however it has not spread to other organs. We will begin treatment with palladia as soon as possible. I am devastated... he is still quite himself, but its like a time bomb, waiting for him to start feeling ill. I just dont know what to expect... if anyone has any advice or hopeful information I would appreciate it.

I am so sorry you and your kitty are dealing with this.  I haven't dealt with this but I know there are people here who have.  Hopefully bumping this back up will get the attention of someone who has dealt with it.

My cat has been having liver issues as well, so I've recently been doing some research on it, and did discover than liver cancer in cats is extremely rare, so you may not find too many people here who have experience with it.  One thing I did read was that metatastic liver cancer usually spreads to the liver from another part of the body, so am surprised that his is contained within his liver.

The good news is that it's in his liver, and the liver is the one organ that can regenerate or heal itself, if given the opportunity.  The bad news is that you said the tumors encompass the entire liver, so they cannot remove them?  Did your Vet think the Palladia might reduce the size of the tumors to where they might be operatable?  From reading up on this drug, it can cause some digestive issues, so are they going to give you anti nausea meds, appetite enhancers, etc.?  I would also ask about giving probiotics with it, since diarrhea is a common side effect.

What about giving him Denamaren while you're at it.  It's something that helps the liver heal.

Hello, I really appreciate your post, thank you. When he had surgery, they removed as many masses as would be beneficial (15) but there were remaining masses that could not be removed. He has been on denamaren for a few months, and we are continuing it. I will get as much information for treatment on his next appointment. The vets dont want to begin treatment until he is recovered from surgery. As of right now I'm not too knowledgeable about palladia, thanks for that info
