TCS Secret Santa Season is upon us once again!  If you have played before; you know we can have a lot of fun with this!  We have had members from across the globe participate in past years and it's always such fun to get to know everyone better playing Santa!

Please review the rules for signing up carefully. We want this to be fun and a good experience for everyone; so the Moderating Team has tweaked things a big, as we do from time to time.

In order to participate, you must:

1. Be serious about participating and committed to sending out your gift. If you are either logistically or financially unable to ship your gift to arrive in time for December 25th, please do not sign up.

2. Be at least 18 years old as of the close of registration.

3. Have 300 or more posts by August 31, 2014.

4. Been a member for 6 months as of the close of registration (in other words have registered in March 2014 or earlier).

5. In the interest of fairness and familiarity, you must have posted in 4 of the last 6 months (March-August).

6. OR be a Subscribing Member, which would overrule #3, #4 and #5. There will be NO exceptions to these rules.
*Please note: Except for extraordinary circumstances, such as natural disasters, if gifts are not received by your recipient in a timely manner, or at all, you will not be eligible to participate in the future.  And remember; SANTA is making a list, checking it twice!

You have until Monday, September 15th, 2014 to sign up. No further registrations will be allowed after that date.

To sign up, please send an email to tcs.secretsanta at gmail.com.

In your email please include the following, keeping in mind that what you type will be sent to your SS as a kind of "starter package":

~TCS Username

~Real Name

~Mailing Address

~Are you willing to ship overseas / to another country? (Please see notes below on shipping.)

~Hints for your Secret Santa, including but not limited to: t-shirt size, favorite color, food / fragrance likes / dislikes, anything you collect (within the price range), your kitty's likes / dislikes, and any other hints you think would be helpful.

We will send you confirmation (from the above email address) that we received your email. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 2 days, please resend your information.

Each person will receive one member as their Secret Santa recipient. You will receive an email with your recipient's information within a few days after sign ups have ended.

The upper price limit is $15-20 USD, NOT INCLUDING SHIPPING. As of August 30th, 2014, this converts to: 16.04–21.39 AUD, 16.28 –21.71 CAD, 11.38-15.18 EUR, 9.04–12.05 GBP. Check here http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/  for additional currency conversions. Please note: this amount isn't set in stone; it's just mentioned here as a guideline. It's normal for people to spend more, but no one is obligated to.

A note about shipping: You should check your shipping options for the destination as soon as you have your SS name, so that you can make the best decision about when and how to ship - for instance, the "slow boat" option for overseas shipping is no longer offered by USPS, so you'll have more time to shop, but it will cost more to ship overseas. There may be other changes, too, so be sure to check well in advance. You can request a certain kind of shipping, but there is no guarantee that it will be used due to availability, price, etc.  You might also consider this when selecting your gifts.  Direct shipping may save you some money on sites like Amazon or other international sites.  Overseas shipping can be more expensive; but if you are creative it does not have to break the bank.

Thank you and let's have a WONDERFUL Secret Santa this year!!!

Email sent!

For those who haven't participated before; we will have a hint thread that I'll start once sign ups are over while you waiting for your names.  I'll post a list of questions for everyone to answer and people can add to that if you'd like.  We will also have a few snoopers from the team who you can contact via PM to ask questions directly to your SS.

True. You can really get the cost down if you shop for lighter, smaller items. My SS from overseas sent ping pong balls for Abby last year. Who would have thought?

Look what I found!!

The 2 kitty figurines in front and the tealight holder were Secret Santa gifts in 2008!  I had them on our old entertainment center at our old house.  When we moved 5 years ago we ended up upgrading to a flat screen TV and that meant we needed a different cabinet to hold it and I lost almost all my display space. Then I had kids.  So basically i lost all my display place and things stayed boxed up.  I was cleaning out closets yesterday and found these safely tucked away.  They are now in a wall hanging curio cabinet my Grandfather made when I was a kid.  He passed it on to me a couple years ago.  It's perfect for these things.

That was a fun year!  My SS was in Canada but sent things from New Zealand.  It took me longer than usual to figure out who it was!  We've had some really clever hints in the past (and of course some people who simply sign their name).  I had to look back for the thread to remember what year this was.  PushyLady was my Santa that year and after looking last night; man was she dropping hints in the thread that went totally over my head!

Nurseangel was my Santa last year! She sent me some Strawberry scented Hello Kitty Bubble bath, it lasted a long time and just got used up on Xena a few months ago. She also sent me a wall cross for my collection, and the cutest little book about a rescued kitten- it benefitted a children's charity and is on my bookshelf right now, it will become a perm CHristmas decoration every year

Here is the wall cross, it is the small stained glass one directly to the left of the TV it is a really pretty light purple glass stained glass, about 7 inches tall :) Fit perfect on my cross wall (evidently I collect wall crosses! LOL. I tend to hit up hobby lobby when they mark them 50% off, (in fact I am heading out the door to go get a few now!)

The year before that, Draco was my Santa and sent me the cutest cross necklaes for my cats at that time. I still have one on my keychain with Smokie's tag :)

I am really looking forward to Secret Santa again this year......

Ping pong balls are cheap cat balls, and much cheaper than the plastic bell things. Another option, we have bought for Xena is the practice golf balls with holes in them...... $1.99 for 15 vs $4.99 for 8....... you do the math LOL

There is this rumor there is a TCS SS Mascot in the works.  Any guesses what it will look like?

There is still room for more people to join the exchange!  You have a little less than a week to decide!

It's a little early to feel Christmas like; but since some of our members are overseas; it helps to have more time to shop before shipping.  Plus; it helps spread the cost out if you are budgeting for gifts.
I'm already putting things away for my kids (by shopping toy clearance sales).  That helps a lot!  Usually by the time Christmas comes I'm just tying up lose ends as far as gifts go.  Then I have our exchange here as a fun diversion during what can be a hectic time!
