Cat wont stop pooping on the floor but does it randomly

Just wondering what I can do about this,Lovergirl will use the litter box most of the time but at random times she will poop on the floor.When she goes in the box she doesn't cover it up either.I have 2 litter boxes and it doesn't seem to matter.What if anything can be done about this?She is also a very large cat weighs 22lbs.Ive also tried different types of litter and doesn't seem to matter.Thanks Aaron

Hi! A good first stop is a vet to make sure nothing is medically wrong.

If she checks out okay, you can try to modify the behavior.

Beyond that, have you tried cat attract litter? How often do you scoop the boxes? Do you have any other cats?

We have 2 other cats but we clean the box 2 times a day pee and all.,then fresh litter daly.She paws at the floor,the wall and ever where but the poop n the box.Shes a big cat Im thinking she doesn't fit in the box and needs a larger one.

The general rule I've heard is one litter box per cat plus one extra. I think trying a larger one might do well for you if you think that's the problem.

Does she poop in the same spot when she doesn't use the litter box? If so, put a box there and if she has no accidents and is using the box slowly move it a few inches a day to where you would ideally want it.

Make sure there's enough litter in the box as well. Don't put all litter boxes near each other either. They should be spread out.

If they have lids you might want to try without lids or vice versa. 

It could also be that another of your cats is making her feel uncomfortable with using the litterbox or is making her feel cornered or trapped while using it. Make sure she has escape routes from the litterboxes. 

I know cats usualy smell where they are going to pick out a spot,I have sprayed offencive things like vinegar,deordoriser in the spots where she does it.There is 3 places where she goes,one is on the floor next to the box and the other two are in the hallway just outside the bathroom.Ive tried putting a box in those spots.She avoids them then goes in the bathroom on the floor.She had formally been an outside cat till we adopted her.Now she is indoor /outdoor but on a leash.She will go do her business when shes outside while we are walking her.Yes we have all 3 girls leashed trained to walk a certain area.

Have you noticed any litter box bullying? My mom's old cat used to poop outside of the box because the other cat would come over and bother her. 

For her to be going right beside the box, but not in it tells us something I think. She must have a problem with the box itself. I would say again that a bigger box might be a good idea to try, but also 100 percent have at least 3 boxes since you have 3 cats. No matter how often you clean them, it can still bother a kitty to share a box. 

Other than that, pay attention to see if she is straining at all. It could be a health issue if she is having trouble going or maybe she can't make it to the box in time. If that's happening it could be serious.

I`ll get a larger box for her and see what happens,I know the other cats are going to go in it just because its new.They Cinnamon is jealous of lovergirl and does bully her around or visa versa at times.They act just like human sisters always picking at each other.Cinnamon will walk by and Lovergirl will swat at her.Lovergirl is struggling to establish herself in dominancy.Yet they can lay next to each other at times like they are best friends.
