Today I finally gave in and neutered Pinball. After a day long panic attack over the whole thing, I picked him up this afternoon alive and well.

He had a "something up his butt" walk earlier after pick up but that's started to normalize a bit. Still throwing one leg out as he walks though?? He's eating well, drinking and currently cuddled up to me so I think he's forgiven me. My concern now is that I was rubbing his stomach and his leg started shaking. (Same leg he's been doing wider than normal steps with) This is NOT normal for him and I'm concerned he's in a fair bit of pain....which makes me go back to feeling awful for the poor kid. They didn't want to give any meds unless he "absolutely needs it". How can I know when that is?? I'd imagine after surgery, he needs it for at least 1-2 days! Cats being so good at hiding pain, I'm worried any small sign could mean he really hurts. I remember all my animals at least getting 1 pain killer before leaving but he got nothing...And I don't think anything OTC can be given for pain in cats? What point should I demand something?

Personally I don't use pain meds for neuters myself. (in my cat rescue group)

There is likely some mild discomfort, but not alot, if he was in pain he wouldn't be eating fine.

He will be great very soon, neuter surgeries are very fast recoveries.
