I noticed a few days ago one ear is normal and the other lays flat.   It appears that all is ok otherwise.   Im really not out there long enough to notice any itching but im sure she has ear mites.    But the fur/skin looks fine (no irritation)

Any info would be appreciated.

THANKS!!

It sounds like ear mites to me too. Will she let you handle her? Can you get close enough to give her meds?

Earmites are nasty, painful little suckers.  We have a former stray who developed an autoimmune response due to untreated earmites.  We have to take her to have her ears flushed out every so often now.

Hopefully, you can get him to the vet for treatment or at least try to get some meds in him.

Our old fashioned treatment has worked well when all the new stuff has failed, also great to use on cats you can't treat daily, just do't use if there is an infection, i.e. pus, blood, or stinky ears.  It's simple, either use food quality diotomaceous earth (get at feed stores) or boric acid powder, available at most drug stores.  Clean black junk out of the outer ear with a Q-tip (don't poke down into the ear canal!) , put about a 1/4 tsp. in the ear, pull tip of ear to allow powder to fall into ear canal, rmassage outer base of ear and allow cat to shake out the excess powder, then do other ear.  Cat may scratch a little and carry ears at half mast for up to an hour and then be fine.  Repeat in 3 days, then in a week, and any black stuff is still emerging, again in another week.  It acts by penetrating the mite's exoskeleton and the mite dries up.  This is also a good ear mite preventative, just do it once a month for your outside cats and they won't ever get mites.

NO... I cant get close enough to medicate.  I could try spraying.   I have frontline... but not sure that helps earmites.

I also give them diatomaceous earth in their food.

Thanks for hte responses.
