Is it just me or do all cat food can lids suck? My cat is a fairly fussy eater, there is nothing he likes more then a fresh can of cat food, its moist and soft when you first open the can. But even after a night in the fridge, the texture changes, it gets hard and slightly dries out. I have tried a few lids and they all have this problem.

I've been looking into making a new lid, and wanted to post here to see if people think its a good idea? One problem is the "one size fits all" lids don't seal well, because they are not made for a specific can. But I imagine most of you are like me, and only buy one size of can anyways so why not get a lid that actually fits well for that one size can.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

I pefer to use platic storage containers. As i would my own food. Depending on the brand, some will still be soft. Some are firmer. But soften when you warm it up and i usally add  a bit of water.

I know storing food in a can is not the best, but its fine for up to 7 days. Id prefer to cut down on as many dishes as possible and food in plastic containers is not good long term either if they are not thoroughly washed. Thanks for your input :)

...with the cats...
i use small plastic containers with lids too. i have one sized container that i use specifically for storing wet cat food.

in my opinion, it's not just that the can lids don't seal the can well/prevent the food from drying out, it's that i don't want a tinny or metal taste to get absorbed into the canned cat food.

I was having this issue too, so I went out and bought silicon lids that have multiple "settings" depending on the size of the can. I bought them at PetSmart a few months ago. They're from the Martha Stewart line, which I really don't like supporting, but these lids are seriously great! They seal very well and keep the food moist :)

I wish I had this worry. With two kittens there is no such thing as wet food left over or left in the can.

Well I recently bought a 2 pack of lids from Target... The brand name is Boots & Barkley.

It's more of a flexible lid with a little bit of suction to it.
