Okay, I don't know if I can keep her yet, as she most likely belongs to somebody else, but if she doesn't I am taking her in.

We call her Kitty for now so we don't get attached to her in case we need to give her up.

I just took her to my grandpa's (retired vet) and he said that she's really healthy which is why he's led to believe that she's somebody's pet.

Socks doesn't like her but we are going to follow thru with all the steps from Mary Anne's article.

There's quite a story as to how I got her, but I don't have time to type it as the kitty is being a little snoop right now.

Will follow up later but I wanted you all to know! Please send "Sockie get along with Kitty" vibes!

pics later tonight.

thanks
Jenn

(BTW, I *finally* mailed you a few things for your project! Not everything, but since I was taking so long I figured I should get something to you at least!

Okay, well, I went to my French class today and there was a little kitten in a cardboard box. The teacher couldn't keep her in there, so by the end of the class, she was out in our school's courtyard. Some boys brought her Meow Mix and water, but they wanted to keep her in the courtyard as a school pet. Umm... yeah. This is the interesting part: I'm a firm believer that cats need more than food and water to live, so I grabbed that cat and I ran like wildfire. I had one guidance counsellor on my side, so I hid out in her office with the cat. A lot of people are peeved at me, as they wanted this kitten to be our school mascot. I explained to the boys that I was very happy that they brought the cat food, but I was going to take her home anyway. They said no, because they figured that because they brought her food, she was their cat. So they locked me out in the courtyard with this cat. I went to the principal. Now they all are mad at me and they are going to egg my house apparently. Erm. She needs a spaying very soon and she's pretty scrawny, but other than that she's a healthy gal.

So, I may get suspended, I sure as heck hope I don't get expelled, my house may get egged, and I'm hated by most of my classmates, but Kitty has a nice warm bed tonight.

Thanks Sunni!

Socks is very angry... I gave her some of her "junk" food and that stopped the hissing. Kitty is presently in her own room checking out the surroundings.

Kitty hates my dog and hissed at him. This should make for an interesting weekend.

What a great story! Eggs can wash off, the kids at school will get over it. The kitty now has a chance at life (which is all that is really important here). Good for you!!

Thanks guys. Momofmany, I love how you put that. You're so right!

Here's a picture of the kitty getting some scritches from my brother:

(I know it looks like he's strangling her, but he's really not, lol. It would look different if I could post the whole pic, but he doesn't want his picture on the net.)

OMG!!!! I am so proud of you!!! You are an absolute SAINT to have stood up to those boys, knowing they would be mad at you, for the well being of this kitty!!!
They may have meant well...but they have no real clue what a cat needs...way more than just food and water to thrive...yes it could survive...but to THRIVE...that is another matter. To thrive it needs love, attention and a home.

Good job!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto what Momofmany said! What a lovely and BRAVE thing to do, going against your classmates. It is NOT good, despite what they thought, for her to hang around the school and the courtyard at night for a 'home'.

What a sweet pic, kisses to Kitty. Sending *get along soon* vibes for Socks and Kitty and Doggie!

LOL, no not yet. My tough, Cadet, "I have no gushy yucky feelings for no kitten" brother currently has a little kitten sleeping ON him. He hasn't left that cat since I brought it home!

Grandpa thinks she's about four months old.

Do any of you have any name ideas?
