Does your IBD cat have "good days and bad days"?  What I mean by this:  Does your cat eat well, act very normal one day, is social, out and around the house one day; then another day, eats well, but kind of withdraws, goes under a bed for part of the day, no vomiting or any other symptoms other than "hiding"?

I think this behavior is pretty common with IBD cats. IBD is usually very cyclical. Sometimes they have good days and sometimes they don't. I don't the hiding is definitely a sign of not feeling well. You may want to keep a journal and see if you can find any patterns.

Mine don't necessarily hide, but definitely are more lethargic and less social some days than others.

Thank you both for your comments.  Its hard for me to not get freaked out when Obi gets quiet or goes under the bed.  On the other hand, he always wants to eat, stools are normal and throws about a hairball a week - but no vomiting of food.
