Good morning and Happy Friday!
A wonderful 3-day weekend is just around the corner and I'm anxiously awaiting 4:00 so I can get home and get started!

One of the items on my To Do list is laundry. It seems that I am always doing laundry around here, way too much for just two people (and the six kibblekrunchers). My question to you this morning deals with laundry.

How many loads of laundry do you do in one week? What laundry detergent do you use? How about fabric softener? Do you hang your laundry outside to dry or do you use a dryer?

We probably do 7-9 loads of wash in one week, usually 3 on Wednesday nights with another 3-4 on Sunday mornings. I like Wisk as my detergent of choice. We don't use fabric softener as neither Rick nor I particularly like using it. A couple loads of whites, a couple loads of colored, a load or two of jeans and shorts (if I don't mix them in with the colored stuff). One for the bed linens and the tablecloth, one for towels and such, and one that includes the blankets and pillowcases for everything the cats use.

We have a dryer and I do use it. However, we also have a clothesline up at the rear of the property and we are talking about taking the posts out of the ground (going to be a chore because they are cemented in) and moving them closer to the house. I think I would use a clothesline more if I didn't have to cart the heavier loads around so much (a basket of wet jeans weighs a ton). We don't know where to put the clothesline, though, because I don't want it real close to the house where we can see it if we're sitting out in the yard. I love to crawl into bed at night and smell the sheets that have been outside on the line all day long....to me, it's soothing. Mom used a clothesline for years and Rick's mom, even though she's in her 90s, still uses an outside clothesline.

Tell us about your laundry....

Haha, every time I see "X loads of laundry" on your Name Three Things list, I let out a sigh of relief that we don't have nearly as much laundry.

We must do laundry once a month or once every 3 weeks. My boyfriend is lazy as all get-out so he leaves clean and dirty clothes lying on the floor everywhere. I can't discern what's clean and what's dirty unless it reeks to high hell so I nag at him to sort them when I have enough to do a load. If he'd been gone for the weekend (like he had been last week and the week before), he'll leave all his stuff everywhere in both bedroom and living room. I'm currently waiting on him to unpack everything from camping two weeks ago (eww!) so we can do a load, but because of him - as usual - it might end up spilling over to two loads. I think it only catches his attention when he runs out of clean clothes.

We've used Tide, but we have another brand of detergent going now that I can't recall the name of. No fabric softener.

We live in an apartment building so laundry is expensive, and we don't use the dryers. We have a clothes rack to hang laundry on, and as long as neither of us is actually out of clean clothes, it suffices. When we visit my parents, sometimes we take laundry to do down there to save money, and if our clothes can't be dried outside in time, we use their dryer too. I love my parents, haha.
When I lived with them, I could totally relate to that *clean* outdoor line-dried smell of clothes and sheets. So relaxing!

How many loads of laundry do you do in one week? 3+, depending on how late I start them & what my wife needs to have washed. Yes, I do the laundry, not her. The three loads that have to get done every week are work clothes, darks, & whites. Sometimes we'll have two loads of work clothes, or two loads of darks, a load of delicates, sheets, and a load or two of towels.

What laundry detergent do you use? Can't remember the brand off the top of my  head (Tide, I think), but it's a 'free & clear' version, with no scent or dye.

How about fabric softener?  Downey free & clear, with no scent or dye.

Do you hang your laundry outside to dry or do you use a dryer?  Dryer, except for the delicates, those go on the sweater dryer:

Got it for less than $10 on closeout at Target years ago.

I do about 4 loads of laundry a week. Usually one on Tuesdays and the rest on the weekend. My favourite laundry soap is Gain but I usually buy whatever is on sale. I don't use fabric softener in the wash, just dryer sheets. I always use my dryer, I don't have a clothes line. My house doesn't have much of a yard so there isn't anywhere to even put one.

The amount of laundry I have is going to go up soon when baby Hudson is born. I usually had an extra 2 loads of laundry a week when Aimee was a baby so I imagine it will be the same this time. One for whites and one for darks/colours. I bought Purex free and clear for his clothes. I just love the smell of it and if it wasn't so expensive, I'd wash my clothes in it too.

None.

No really.

But, my partner does about 3 loads
  Usually 1 dark, 1 white, and towels/linens.  We're only 2 people.

We use Tide HE, regular scent detergent.

Bounce for softening in dryer  (the one that sticks to the inside of the dryer)

Last, are the Downey "Unstopables" Scented Washer Beads when he does the bedding and towels.  I think it's the Fresh Scent we currently use.  They really give the linens a great smell.

Very rarely use bleach.  I personally don't care for it, too much possibility of ruining clothing.  Which in fact happened last week.  By accident he put a few of his dark t-shirts in with the whites which he felt needed "freshening up".  Totally ruined them, they look tie dyed now. Oh yea and some of his dark undies too LOL.  Glad nothing of mine got in that load!

Oh and we use the dryer only.  We wouldn't even have room to hang them outdoors.  Anything really delicate isn't even hand washed, those go to the cleaners.  We don't have much room to let things dry on a rack either.

It varies by season; summer clothing is smaller so takes up less room for me.  I'm guessing 5-8.  I use those Color Catcher sheets from Shout to combine the kid's things into one load.

For the kid's things I use All Free & Clear. Both have eczema and sensitive skin.  For DH and I I like to also use Downy Free (I think that's what it's called).  Also for sheets and towels.  My mother never used fabric softener when I was growing up.  We only used dryer sheets in the winter when static was a big issue.  I'm addicted now. It really makes a difference in how soft the towels feel but also things like cotton t-shirts.

The kid's clothing goes into the dryer on low.  DH and I air dry things like our shirts, jeans and anything else we dont want to shrink.  Things like undergarments, socks and pj's usually go in the dryer.  I use a rack to dry things in the shower stall of our main bathroom.  No one uses that shower so it's a good use of the space.
When I was a kid my mother liked saving some money by air drying outside.  She had a fancy hanger for socks.  They didn't feel so good air dried; but the real problem was that our house backed to a huge forest with a pond only a few hundred feet away.  That meant BUGS!  I vividly recall the feeling of putting a sock on; only to find a flying ant inside.
I'd be ok doing some outside air drying here; but it tends to be dusty because of our sandy soil.  It would have to be only things that can get shaken out REALLY well!!

I've been doing about 1 load every other day lately. I'm not even sure where all these clothes come from :lol3:. I mostly use Tide pods (scented; meadow fresh? or something like that), but I have a couple other detergents I use sometimes (natural for certain items, Tide with Febreze for really smelly things, etc.). I don't use fabric softener in the wash, but sometimes I'll put some white vinegar in the rinse to get the soap residue out. I do put unscented dryer sheets (Walmart or Target brand) in the dryer or else the cat hair sticks to everything. I also have those spiky softener balls in the dryer and they help loosen the fur but without the sheets it still sticks.

I don't use bleach often, but now and then if something is extra stained or smelly or I want to brighten up the white towels (maybe once or twice a year). I did put some bleach in with the couch cover, just a half-cup for sanitizing, but I put it in wrong (instead of letting it fill, adding the bleach, and then adding the laundry, I poured the bleach in on top because I thought it would mix in quickly enough to not cause bleachy spots :/) and now it looks tie-dyed . Oh, well, it was old but I didn't want it to go like this, LOL. Every single time I try to bleach something that isn't white, I end up with problems.

I don't separate colors unless I have a new red t-shirt or something like that. I do wash towels separately because they make clothes fuzzy, and I wash jeans separately or they won't dry well. I don't dry things outside---I do have an old clothesline set-up but with no line in it; I really should get some new line and use it on nice days.

I do laundry about once a week and I use Xtra.  It has such a wonderful fragrance and a choice of a few.  I do not use fabric softener either but I do use those towels in the dryer to keep out the static clinging. I never did like hanging clothes outside so always use the dryer, the clothes come out much fluffier rather than stiff from hanging outside especially towels.  Only my perception.

Currently about 15 a week.  That is clothes, bedding and cats bedding.  I coupon so usually get Fab or Dynamo matched up to a sale for the bedding and cats and just started using Nellies for my stuff/babys stuff when baby decided to come:)  I try to hang as much out as I can-that gets no softner but anything going in dryer but towels/diapers get Snuggle and ONLY Snuggle.

My dream is a backyard and a HUGE clothes line I can get to from a porch so the dog can bump the hanging items.  And big enough to hang everything at once!

It seems we have a lot of laundry, I guess about 12+ loads a week, for 3 people. That doesn't count our daughter's clothes, which she washes herself, but I wash all the towels and bedding and other clothes. I use the powdered detergent from Costco, in the large blue and white tub, and Woolite Dark for our black and dark clothes.

I don't believe in dryer softeners - they smell really bad to me (even "natural" unscented ones) and they leave a layer of slime in the dryer and on our clothes and towels. We put nicer clothes on hangers to dry indoors; with all the rain here we use the dryer for everything else.

I do two loads once a week. That includes clothes and towels and such. Sometimes a 3rd if I toss in bedding. It's just me. Sometimes I'd go two weeks before doing laundry.

As for detergent, I usually get whatever's on sale. I think I have Whisk right now. I use Bounce fabric softener. I also use Bounce to dust my apartment- I find it keeps the dust away more.

I do a lot of laundry for just one person.  One load a week is bed linens, one load is my scrubs for work, a small load of whites, a medium to large load of darks will include workout wear (if I can work out!), a load of towels/handtowels, and every other week or so I wash the blankets/throws.  I don't have a clothes line, but I'd consider something in the house for some things.  I use anything from Gain to Cheer to whatever is on sale for detergent, and Gain or Downy for liquid softener.  I use bleach on my whites occasionally, usually my socks since the black Danskos can really stain them.  I bleach my towels regularly, and I do not use softener on them because it affects absorption.  I use vinegar instead on the second rinse.  Dishtowels too, when I use them.

A lot. At least 4 loads a week, sometimes as much as a load a day, towels, bed sheets and clothes included.

I use Arm & Hammer brand, Glen and I have different detergent allergies but both of us are fine with A&H brand.

I would love to be able to hang our clothes on a line but we have well water and its "hard" water. Our shirts would be like cardboard if I hung them out to dry lol.

We average about 4 loads of laundry a week. I use liquid detergent and hardly ever any softener. Most stuff gets thrown in the dryer, though sheets and delicates go on the clothes line outdoors or in the laundry room.

i usually wash one load of laundry per week, and do an additional load of just bedding about once per month. part of the reason i'm able to do this is that i chose my clothing colors so they can all be washed together  in cold water. occasionally i'll have an extra load. i do laundry as i accumulate a full load in the washing machine -- dirty clothes/towels/etc get deposited in the washing machine until i've got a full load, then it gets washed.

i use wegmans advanced liquid laundry detergent. and i use a downy ball in my washer loads, filling it with white vinegar (which i buy by the gallon) as a fabric softener. the white vinegar helps get all the detergent out of the towels and other thick/plush items as well as keeping the inside of my washing machine free from detergent build-up. my washing machine is pretty old (was in the house when i bought it) and had visible detergent build-up on the washer drum, but after a few years of using the white vinegar in downy ball in my washer loads there is almost no detergent build-up left on the washer drum.

i could hang my wash out to dry, all i'd need to do is string some clothes line up -- it's all set up in my back yard to do that. but i don't particularly enjoy doing laundry, so i want it done and over with as quickly as possible. so, i use my dryer every time. i also use dryer sheets, wegmans brand.

I do 1-3 loads of laundry a week.

I use All in those little bags and Downey with no scents or dyes.

I use the dryer to dry my laundry. We are not allowed to hang up our clothes outside. I didn't think people did that anymore. When I was a kid everyone hung their clothes outside.

I only do laundry for me and Mouse and I swear I do at least 3 loads a week....  it used to be more when I went swimming 3 to 6 days a week but not done that for over a year now.   Mostly it's work clothes, PJs I wear to lounge about the apartment, bedding and towels.  This last week it's been endless pairs of curtains as took them all down and washed them.  I had a set of curtains plus one or two lining sets for each window as they were all light shades.

I used to use Ecover powder or Filetti as didn't irritate a friend's skin who has severe exzema but she's moved away and now I just use what ever kind is on offer as not in such well paid work as I was.  Sometimes I use softener, sometimes not. Use Ecover if I can afford it.  My laundry is all dried indoors on a pulley attached to the ceiling as I live in an apartment and getting out to the drying area is difficult.

It's just me, but still do about 3 a wk. whites, colors, towels & sheets. More when I throw in a comforter, or do Angel's beds, or the bathroom rug. (usually every 2 WKS.)

I like Arm & Hammer w/ oxi clean , usually free & clear, I also use a Downy ball.

I use the dryer.  No line out side, but wouldn't dry outside anyway, no time for that, & Toooo much pollen here in NC!

I do one. My ex does one and towels makes three.
I use Ariel. No softener as it's broken on my machine. Everything goes into the dryer except towels. Those get hung outside. I like hard towels. I feel they dry better.
